Remember when Idea Factory made good quality Neptunia games?
After waves and waves of mediocre spin offs, a crappy remake of a remake of a reboot on the way, and 5 years without a new mainline game, I sure don't.

Instead we got what feels like a lazy lackluster spinoff where there's

No Candidates (Uni - GUN) SMH
No Makers (Where's my Iffy, i actually like your companies namesake character)
No playable Vtubers except the two mains (The marketing focus)
Predictable cliche story
15 optional dlcs on game launch (That desperate for money ay)
Lackluster gameplay and mechanics.

I hate that i love this franchise, I'm watching as it builds its own pyre, jumps on and lights itself on fire.

RPG was alright and somewhat different. The rest is... ehh. Sure hope to see a proper sequel instead of a cash grab on something that is popular at the moment

The thing is Neptunia games have never been something I'd call "quality", at least in the gameplay aspect... what they have going for them are the characters and the constant references / 4th wall breaking, and even that is a hit or miss at times.

I'm definitely curious to see what they pull off with the vtubers though, so at least they managed to get my attention with this one, lol
nep VII / VIIR was the best of them

too bad they went the wrong way

Like sya playing Rebirth3; Vert menttions 4Goddesses Online and we are FORCED to play 4Goddesses Online and beat it before progressing REbirth3's story.

I prefer this approach because it allows for crossovers or more referneces, for different takes on the characters we know in different worlds and/or topics while giving us the choice to play them or not. And we know the main series will focuse on its own story, something they had much more time to work for than having to rush it all for the sake of putting a game out.

Everything have its pros and cons.

That's the dumbest thing I've read in a while. It's been
FIVE YEARS
since the last mainline game and they have consistently churned out ♥♥♥♥♥♥ spin offs every year in between for the sake of making a game and turning a profit. You don't have to risk plot pacing by releasing mainline titles quicker, and if you're rushed for time you don't put in filler, your example of putting the entire plot of 4GO in the middle of Victory is asinine. But hey, good for you wanting the series to devolve into nothing but cheap crossovers and references where the characters have been watered down into one-note jokes.

No interested with any neptunia games anymore since Super Neptunia RPG, for me neptunia squel is already dead due they keep releasing a spin off. As you can see here, this community forum has gone quiet and only few people coming here to makes some thread. Heh, it looks like they keep losing their fans day by day.

And i hope this is the last time for their to kept releasing a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Spin off.

Idea Factory just doesn't care anymore, and I doubt losing all their fans and making no money on their yearly spin offs will make them care anymore.

So because they are making spin offs, the next mainline game, regardless of how good it might be, is already dead to you? :steamfacepalm:

The franchise is dead, in the 5 years since we last got a mainline game we've gotten 8 spin-offs, with a remake of re;birth 1 coming to the PS5, and not so much as a hint of a new mainline game, not to mention that the quality of IF's writing has gone down the drain severely with the constant churning of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ spin offs. If IF ever do make a new mainline game in like 10 years time, it'll be such poorly written garbage where the characters are as flat as their portraits and the community will have withered to nothing and no one will care. The franchise started to die with the release of Victory, VII gave it a brief breath of life, but all the quick cash grab spin offs quickly stole it, and now Neptunia is being dragged alone and milked for all that's possibly left.

When the 3rd game in the franchise, a game from 2012, already made the IP start to die for you, then I don't think it matters if the spin offs exist or not.
NepTenn Jan 5, 2021 @ 6:33pm
The sad truth is that Neptunia is a popular franchise they can milk and they will continue to milk it constantly with scuffed spin-offs and low effort remakes of remakes of remakes that people will always buy no questions asked. There's not really much of a reason for them to make main series games if they can make money this way.

When you see that a buggy and trashy mess like Cyberpunk sold so many coppy you understand that IF can keep milking Neptunia for at leat a dozen year and still making a huge profit. I mean in Cyber goddess they still used the same mob as Victory, making new game probably dosent cost much...

Call of duty, fifa, battlefield, halo, and a lot of ther game are just cashgrab, but there is still a huge amout of sheep to buy each and every single copy/past they make.

There is something I don't understand among all these extra-side games, why aren't they making a romance/visual novel of the series ?

From what I see, they already have well established characters and the complete world of gamindustry, so they would only have to make a setting. And it doesn't seem like romance was out of the question with the Neptune wedding scene, drama cd, and VR sessions where you could bond with them.

Maybe it's just me ? But I have a feeling it would do pretty well.

play fairy fencer f: dark force. it's a good idea factory neptunia clone.

ignore fairy fencer f same game as dark force but with less content.

Truth is...the only actual spin-off i ever liked much, it was Cyber dimension. After that, it was pretty meh anyway.I was going to go get Neptunia RPG even for like 4 euros from a key site, then it just didn't feel right anymore.I liked the design and all from what i've seen (reminded me of Ori and Dust Elysian Tale) but it sure fell off in many other ways.So yeah...after Mega dimension the IP took a dive.

They could just go make newer IP's like with Death End recently but nope. They want to cash grab as many times as possible.Kinda reminds me of FFX being on PS2/3/4.A remaster of a remaster to sell again and again LOL.
