They official pulled the plug!!!
https://go.playspellbreak.com/blog/spellbreak-future

Breakers,

After more than four years of elemental magic and spell combinations, we’ve made the decision to end development of Spellbreak. The servers will be shut down as of early 2023. Thank you to the millions of players who have joined us in the Hollow Lands since 2018; it’s been an amazing journey.

Our vision was to create a fresh, multiplayer action-spellcasting game with exceptional movement and class customization that would give players the chance to unleash their inner battlemage. We are grateful to everyone in the game’s community for exploring the magical worlds and experiences we created together. Spellbreak was an ambitious project that saw our team push new boundaries in design and development and we are excited to continue to innovate as we create new titles in the future.

To all Spellbreak fans around the world, thank you for the support and dedication that made the game and community so special.

Sincerely,
Spellbreak Development Team

'Get Woke, Go Broke!'

What a damn shame! They literally took the profit to pocket while refusing to develop this amazing game!

This could have easily been a top tier game that rivaled Fortnite, PubG, ect...

After this, I will refuse to play any further games produced by this team. There is nothing to blame for the failure of this game other than the lack of development.

And, as usual, there will be no way to play the game LAN or P2P after it's shut down.
All that time and money spent by people making this game, effectively wiped off the Earth.

Yeah. the whole dev team is to be relocated to work in World of Warcraft. Literally blizz bought them out and made them shut down the game kek.

Some games get fan servers, like Magicka: Wizard Wars. But it will be difficult to maintain a viable playerbase once the game is removed from the store. Not sure why PvP wizarding is such an unpopular subgenre.

1) What's "woke" about Spellbreak?
2) I wouldn't consider being bought by ActiBlizz as "going broke"

Edit: It's been almost 3 full weeks since I posted this. Still waiting for an answer.

This happened to a game called Fractured Space, the team was bought out by Gaijen, and a discord group has made it playable again, but sadly... no new content cause the discord members aren't developing the game further, just allowing people to play it as it was with everything unlocked.

Well, they just got acquired by Activision Blizzard and are going to help develop World of Warcraft, soooo....

But now we know the real reason for the shutdown.

That game is equally trash now. Seems fitting for them to make the transition to the trash receptacle.

lol knew this was gonna happen when they allowed aim bots and modded controllers to be utilized without punishment...I watched this game lose 98 percent of its player base within 2 months ages ago after that aim assist update.

I played this game early and left early, what wokeness did they add?

sad to see the game go, for me, the reason i stopped playing is because I don't really like battle royals.

But I did love the the mage combat and skill mixing in this game.

What they mean by that is they think there are two skin colours, white and woke. And there are two genders, male and woke.

Seriously though. I quit the game about a year ago because I figured out a lot of the people in matches were bots. People were always complaining about "controller aim assist" back then, but the fact of the matter is what they were doing was misdiagnosing things.

It was actually bots. And bots had this thing where their aim kind of locks onto you and they spazz around 10 degrees in random directions. That means the bot can't hit with a sniper at far range because it has carpel tunnel syndrone, and inversely it also means that the bot can't miss at point blank because it's so close any deviation is 100% still in your hitbox zone.

still, it is a huge shame a well made game will be lost forever while a buggy mess like PUBG will keep running
