Just Found This Game - Here Are My Thoughts
As I'm waiting for the game to update for another 4 and a half minutes, I thought I'd give a fair post (maybe to reach devs?) that describes my thoughts of this game in detail.

I downloaded this game a few weeks ago. Until that moment, I had not heard of Spellbreak and only heard of it then after searching for games in the Steam Store to find a review on another game (Naraka) that directed me to Spellbreak. Now, I want to say, I've been looking for all that Spellbreak is for a long time. I do mean that. After playing another similar but dead game that quite frankly, missed the mark, I've been looking for an alternative. Spellbreak is what I was searching for. I've played the game nearly daily for 3-4 weeks now and I think I've developed a certain sense of what the game's strengths are as well as its weaknesses.

1) If not for the discord community, this game would not work for me. Quite literally, there is one thing that makes this game interesting - it's the gameplay. But there's something else entirely that gives it longevity - it's the MMORPG aspect of it. It's that you are playing against other players in real time, experiencing battle with them, countering their decisions and actions; interacting with others. Aside from the gameplay, there is very little interaction within the game, which could be intentional on the developer's end, however, without people to interact with verbally, the game falls short. Yes, there are in game Mics but the system for comms is terrible and most often you're paired with people you don't like.

2) There is very little motivation or incentive to return to the game aside from cosmetics. While that works for some games, it often leads to a shortfalling. Sea of Thieves is a very successful game following the same model of cosmetics only incentives and people fall off quickly there as well. However, one thing they do offer is open- world game play. In a very real sense, Sea of Thieves and Spellbreak are too similar. You navigate the world collecting supplies to arm yourself for combat. The difference is, there's something to do while in the open world and the world doesn't get smaller but larger.

3) This game has great potential. This is what everyone says when they want to influence someone else's opinion of a game, but in this case, it's very true. There is no other game quite like Spellbreak. It's got a niche I'm willing to scratch. It just needs... something more. Granted, I wasn't around for clash (though I wish I were), I notice there is beautiful art in the world, amazing FX for abilities, the movement is second to none, the ideas are great. The Story is lacking. The option to explore the story more is lacking (perhaps because it is not a premiere focus) and it is very limited within the time constraints of the gameplay.

4) There are not enough people in the game and playing against robots is not fun. Honestly, I'd rather play in a rather unpopulated game that play against robots. It may appear to be more empty, but that's because it is. Why not allow the queue times to be low and queue according to how many signed up? If you get 8 players, so be it! Let's make the initial circle smaller? Let's give less items. I'd rather be dropped in with 2 common gauntlets and 3 small potions to a fight than fight robots for legendaries for 13 minutes before fighting an actual player.

Devs, I tried making games and I got stuck on the coding. It takes a whole lot of effort and skill and being at the right place at the right time - knowing the right people, and determination. I commend you. And I'm going to keep on playing, though admittedly, probably less. If you make a skin I like - I might even buy it ;) But only to support your endeavors. If you make another game, which I know you eventually will, please learn the lessons available from Spellbreak. Much love, <3

Yes!!! Im loving this game... cant play dominion cuz queue times long. Not a fan of BRs and fighting against bots. I hope they just stick to one main game mode tho-- not BRs cuz it's outdated. Nevertheless, the premise of the game (magic and stuff) is what hooked me up and several of my friends.

Agreed, There is no other game like this. The art style is great - reminds me of Legend of Zelda's BoTW. Cartoony in some ways and realistic where it counts. It's gorgeous. I love the color palette. It reminds me of a medieval setting. However, the gameplay is where this falls short. Gimme an open world Spellbreak like WoW or something. A True MMoRPG and I'm so down. Until then, meh.
