So what's the deal?
Dead game? Lots of cheaters?

Seems to pop up in a random thread or review. Is it worth spending any time on?

Pop is low but it's not dead. Have yet to suspect anyone of cheating. I personally think it boils down to the Epic exclusivity deal because the game itself is pretty solid all things considered.

there arent alot of cheaters its just that there is no skillbased matchmaking so as a new player your gonna play against people with over a year of experiance on the PC and get clapped your arse cheeks

I think what the problem is the epic exclusivity bit them in the ass, epic couldn't support the game as an exclusive (dumb move for a f2p multiplayer shooter if you ask me) and people are salty about it.

I like what I've played so far though hope it gets more players.

game has about 2.5k-3k players actively on steam, doesnt take in to account players on epic and players on cross platform, steam numbers are not the be all and end all.

I've been playing Spellbreak for the better half of a year and since the beta days, so I'm elated that the game can have a bigger audience with new players on Steam!

If not for the Epic Games Store bs exclusivity and lack of proper advertisement buzz, this game would be sitting comfy right next to Among Us and Fall Guys as another multiplayer craze with a blooming audience surrounding it. I have no patience for the majority of over-saturated battle royale's on the market, yet I find plenty in variety and uniqueness in Spellbreak to potentially grow from. It can be as descriptively complex as you want it to be in mixing and matching playstyles to accommodate how you play best.

Plus, the game is stupidly generous with rewards if you know what you're grinding for; to the point that chapter keys can practically be free if you save up the coins you accumulate wisely.

You're right about epic not being included, but remember consoles aren't included in our matchmaking they have their own lobbys. Cross play matches xbox and ps together with switch being on its own like pc for balancing reasons. Consoles and switch will only enter pc matchmaking lobbys if they team up with a pc player.

If the game is to survive, i believe they're going to have to bring in optional full crossplay.

I was looking forward to this update but after queing for over 10 minutes i went back to another "dead game" quake champions and was in a match in under a minute.

Is it really getting bigger? I tried it on EPIC, I ran maybe into two players total. The rest were bots. Hopefully the pop gets bigger.

I don't know about Among Us or Fall Guy levels of players. I'd probably throw it more into the same category of like 20-30k+ if it had a proper release. Enough for it to be active but not this mindblowing 100k+-200k+ phenomenon.

personally from what i played so far i like it, a lot better than apex imo but that kind of game isn't particularly for me. for beginners into pc games like this i think its a good game, not dead just poor advertising
