As for desired relics, I'm not a pro on the subject. Miner & drill speed, increased chance for chests, anything that reduces resource costs, anything that impacts [a mechanic that unlocks after you surpass 300km]... they all sound fine to me.
But the scientist failure chance for many of them are rather steep and I value them more than I should, so I'm still mostly rocking miner speed myself. Since more miners are added each floor, it's one of the few items that gets more effective the deeper you get.
To each their own.
Get weapons from smaller battles, golden chests, and scientist missions. You can upgrade them with only cash and time (you'll see the system when you get to it). There's no penalty for being defeated, so you can challenge the boss at any point to see if you have enough power. If not, more grinding for upgrades is required. They're just tests of strength and your personal dexterity, not actual threats, so don't sweat about 'em.
Later levels of oil rig upgrades cost a tremendous amount of $$$ compared to your potential income so stacking some Book of Frugality could be a good idea unless you mainly get your oil through chests. Depends of much you are active at opening chests.
I had up to 8 Wider well at some point + 3-4 remaining endless miner potions for the beginning of the moon and now i'm starting to stack Books of Time.
Timelapse is the real game changer in my opinion since you get so many from chests and having a timelapse multiplier on the scientists rewards of 30 min, 1/2/3 hour and the 6h from the golden chests has a huge impact on your game progression. Speeds up oil generation, digging, weapon upgrading and questing so much that I'm now looking to get one in every relic slot. Looking forward to have +150% bonus on my timelapses and opening a golden chest with a 6h one turning it into a 15h one.
I am stacking Book of Frugality at the moment as I still got 3 weapons to finish upgrading as there is one monster that is just to tough to beat only beat him once and it paid out a lot.
This is what I have in my relics
4 Book of Frugality
1 Midas Touch (which is a waste of space)
2 Nuggets of Attraction ( which give 10% each from money from chests)
7 Endless Minors (5% each on speed)
1 Golden Shovel (increases sell price by 5% on all Minerals and isotopes)
I think stacking Nuggets of Attraction and Books of Time might be the way to go?
My oil is upgraded too level 10 = 4000 oil and I have just over 25,000 oil in total from opening chests
I am also on level 123Km on the moon with 4 minors
