Core tips?
I have put in several relics in the cord and each time nothing. Am I wasting them? Also any tips on the other stuff to be tossed in?

You are wasting relics. First thing to throw into the Core should be the Book of Secrets. Normal core only works with minerals.

throw in back to back book of secrets for better results

there is a chance to get another relic back when you throw relics.. 1 in 15?.. 20? but the relic you get back is random and base. Toss in a few book of secrets to sacrifice relics so you may get better ones back instead.

I threw a book and in there and it turned blue yesterday and now today its back to being red lava. Is it timed or something or is it bugged?

If you sacrifice anything it will revert back to normal upon success (any sacrifice will do scientist, relic) there is no time limit. If you haven't sacrificed anything and it reverted back, you encounted a bug.
