Map/location
There is no map in the game?
I got lost from my base location, and because I couldn't find a map, I couldn't get back.

Thinking about buying this as I like the long dark.

Is the world a decent size to explore? as some people say its very small, I have only played the demo so I don't know what the full game is like.

I've been working on one because I kept getting lost.
Can I interest you in a half-done crayon map?[imgur.com]

The actual map is 3x the size of Demo map.

WS map is very small, I will say equivalent to the size of TLD Mystery Lake region.

Don't compre this game with The Long Dark or will be frustrated, the only common things is the set in a Winter and have predators animals as enemy, plus the cold weather.

There's absolute no necessity to have map in WS, neither compass - but have one in the HUD that you can't disable, keeps polluting the HUD all the time.

Food is very easy to obtain, you can survive only eating plants, that respawn in 3 days, beside this a helicopter drop supplies 2-3 times a week.

The wolves don't offer a mortal danger, unless you make very dumb moves, is easy kill a pack of three.

You can't kill the bear, but can steep over him and run away for a safety spot, are several around, market with that typical "yellow paint" marks for guide lazy players in the so called "modern games". :steammocking:

Thanks for that, I won't compare to long dark then but will treat it as a different game, as you say with a similar setting.

Obviously, there is no map so that no one can see that it is very small. And this is an important parameter of the attractiveness of the game. Developers who have nothing to hide always make a map in their game. Even if it is temporarily closed and opens as the player explores.

I'd probably rebuy the game if the map size was increased quite a bit. The game is not bad at all, I just like large maps to play on.

The map is a rat maze with tons of wolfs in it and i hate it. I just hate the map so much i uninstalled the game a long time ago. I tried to reach max level but the game was ultra bugged and the map is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

I play WS for ~530+ hours, find some bugs - some fixed in patches, some not; but none "game stop", so the mileage varies.

My only complain about the map is that is very small, * with locations of interest very close in between.

You can move from one extreme of the map to another in 10 minutes (IRL), in TLD map will take several hours.

* This in the actual stage, but since the story mode hint that you will move for coastal area, what you see from the highest point will be accessible latter, doubling the actual area.

The "tons of wolves" around the map means you won't be short of food. :steammocking:

Just a minor change but you can get above where you have the green hunters blind... I use it as a short cut to get between those two areas instead of going through the cave...
