TL;DR: Block off skeletons, hurry to build log shed and windmill, micromanage, farm, and build the pyramid!
I keep around 5-6 people around, and I find it really hard to not run into skeletons when they work. I also often don't have enough time to wall off skeletons before they run out again.
I first had to understand, that this game is more in the spirit of the good ole days, e.g. Blue Byte's "Settlers" or "Cultures", just heavily condensed. Every single ingame character is essential and needs your attention, almsot every second, at least in the beginning of the game. For example:
- If you build a log shed somewhere, let it get filled up and THEN start to build walls, it will take waaayyy to much time. But if your guy passes a tree and you just tell him to chop it, well, ten secs later you'll have built your wall. To e.g. enclose a skeleton (bones) this way, takes about a minute.
- Don't let them do long, "empty" walks! After doing some job away from your TC, don't just send them back - first let them e.g. gather some wheat, before sending them back.
- Place the windmill and a hay shed right next to your town center and 2-3 hay fields as close as possible. Connect them, using roads/brick road, to improve the output even more. Now two workers will be able to feed 5 people easily. (Dead Antilopes do not rot, so having some laying around to gather them later can save you the game, too)
-For the worst case: (Ab-)use the watchtower bug for your first tries, to avoid the frustrating death of your peasants.
I was about to give up on this little gem, but now I'm glad I gave it another chance. Maybe you will, too? ;-)
