For speedrun + hunter-gatherer run, a minimalist approach is better. I went for 7 villagers + alien (8 total). Skip anything bread related. Find the pyramid, stone deposits (at least 3 large stacks) and the alien. Build your buildings in close proximity of the pyramid. In order, logcamp, 2xhouses, archery range, sawmill, mining camp and mason workshop. You need to micro your vils heavily to avoid them dropping off their stuff; rather send them directly to what needs building. This 2 houses opening is a bit gambling food-wise. You need to be on the ball while the kids grow up with the berry collection until the archery range is complete where 3 hunters (with no downtime) is sufficient to keep the rest collecting stones to build the pyramid. I finished on day 17 and only 1 antilope was left on the entire map, so you need to make your actions count. At the start of every night, consider dropping off ressources and hunt skeletons that threaten your mining ops/pyramid with a party of 5 archers.
I'd say that wells, schools, roads, watchtowers and brickroads are okay-ish at best. Probably best not to invest in any of them in either runs (until after you beat the game). Pantry is required around 13-pop to sustain your village. Otherwise the red bar take a huge chunk and it's unlikely you'll refill it in time for the next meal. Enjoy!
