It is a fun game though, but now after 10+ hours is lacking variety. Maps are too similar, positioning is always you left, enemy right. Unable to interact with the environment, etc.
This game has no story.
It is a fun game, for what it is, but yes XCOM was AAA and has more going on. This was a one guy show, I believe. Fun for the scope he was able to put out.
If OP haven't play FM5, you should now. There's a 100% Fantranslation English Patch.
Front Mission 4 was mostly Mech vs Mech, had an actual storyline, narratives, character interaction, sequential missions, and RPG style level ups for your pilots.
This game has has almost no story what so ever, no pilots, mech vs monsters, and is a rogue lite.
The similarities are mech customization and turn based combat featuring mechs.
However, if you enjoyed the Front Mission series I'd say pull the trigger on this game. Its not going be exactly the same, but you will probably still enjoy it.
