Try to aim the dart where you want and then pull the mouse back and launch it forward to throw the dart, just not so hard that you have a mouse wedged into your monitor...

As I said in another post about the darts not hitting the mark where you aim:
The darts 'drift' based on how 'straight' your mouse 'throw' is... so...

I had this issue too at first, and I found a 'work around' solution. When using Keyboard/Mouse, you can get the dot where you want, but the mouse sensitivity causes the darts to fly randomly around the dot and are terribly inaccurate.

My work around? When I used my gamepad and the sticks on it, the dart is extremely accurate.

Basically, the mouse is not accurate at all... try a gamepad for that game--and remember, you can switch back and forth. I play most of the game as a keyboard/mouse, but for a few things I use gamepad. (Woodgal Jr--keyboard/mouse; Darts--gamepad; Vostok 2093--gamepad; movement/cleaning--keyboard/mouse)

Once your score is low enough, the scoreboard will give you a set of targets to hit to get the score down to zero.

Definitely not optimised for mouse. The instructions say to used W&S keys to pull back, then launch but it is actually the mouse where only the slightest deviation causes it to fly anywhere but the aim position. I don't own a gamepad and won't buy one for 1 game. If it is designed for PC, K&M needs to be able to be used properly.

I am also really struggling with launching a dart, despite different mouse sensitivities and different velocities making up my arsenal of "well, maybe, this might w... nah, still stuck to my hand"
