Report a translation problem
1. For direct shots, you're going to want to strafe around a bit to get the green player moving. Wait til they are juuuust about at one side of the field and hit it. You'll want to be practically right on your puck and hit [SPACE] to give it a little extra kick. Sometimes Green will still catch it, but I've found it works more than it doesn't once I got the hang of it.
2. Ricochet shots require a lot of luck most of the time, BUT...If you start with the puck, pick a side you want the puck to bounce off of. Now, do the same thing for straight goals where you wait for green to mostly go to one side (the opposite side to the one you want to bounce off of). This will take some trial and error, but using the logo in the center of the field you can help replicate the right angle once you found it. When you do, it's another hard hit and you should get it most times if you time it right.
I do agree that the "regular" play of the thing is really quite difficult, though. The AI is a little too good sometimes and the margin for error is very, very small.
Hope this advice helps anyone else having some frustration with this particular arcade game.
