What is the handler really supposed to be? (SPOILERS)

The Handler that gives you brief descriptions over mission is odd.. Blobby, Fat, skinless looking, and has a pig nose? What is he supposed to be? in the trailer he appears to be built like a golem with his arm shape, so could he be a golem exosuit that decided to grow a face and organs? (if the golems are just humans in exosuits and not their own thing, same way as Foxtrot can wear a golem exosuit), or could he be a human that survived a DNA scramble? (like if the CEO was cruel to him, based off the CEO's aggressive behavior, I mean the first thing he does when he see's his highest valued employee is immediately open fire), or is the handler even real or just a illusion or hologram to hide your actual handler? It's so interesting with this games lore and design, don't you think?
