Trauma Loop - Abominator selfdamage

I decided to replay Cruelty Squad recently. I've been using Abominator most of the missions but on Trauma Loop I've noticed that it works strange. Whenever I activate it, my health gets quickly depleted. I haven't checked if other active implants work the same but grappendix and grenades seem to work fine (they are the same key as Abominator).
It's not linked to fall damage - I am getting damaged the moment Abominator is activated and it continues until I toggle it off, whether I am in contact with a surface or not. Also, I wear Bouncy Suit so the fall damage shouldn't be an issue anyway.

the abominator just kills you in trauma loop so that you can't just skip to the end

(a different aug that lets you skip to the end anyway, but i'll let you figure that out for yourself)
