Am I playing the stock market wrong?

So I'm only about 4 levels deep into the game, and a few reviews I read before giving it a try suggested that the stock market is essential.

Personally I've not had a lot of trouble yet, although I'm assuming you really need implants/cash late game.

I've been hoarding cash and trying the "buy low, sell high" typical mindset, however even buying at -3/-4 and flipping for a high positive, I'm either breaking even or making 100-200 bucks.

Just wanted to know, am I not doing it correctly? Is it all about volume of stocks traded? Any help would be appreciated.

Before doing mall madness invest in GAG ( the gaming one) then DO NOT complete the apartment level ( the next one) and just wait, when you get enough you can buy the corporate eyes to speed up the stock market when you equip it. There is a good guide on the stocks on steam.
