Completing missions is very open-ended in that you can take a variety of paths and use a variety of equipment and weapons to complete them. There's no "right" way to do it. You're able to complete levels very stealthily and also very loudly, and the more stuff you unlock, the more options you have. Creativity is rewarded. Exploration is also rewarded as there are a lot of hidden areas that often have the aforementioned unlocks. It's also a pretty difficult game sometimes, which I appreciate, and there are plenty of ways to make the game more difficult if you feel like you aren't being challenged enough (or easier, if you use the right equipment).
And on top of everything else, there's the whole world, aesthetic. and attitude that brings it all together. There's a good amount of depth to the world, if you bother looking for it, and it really makes you feel like you're a part of it. Seems like some people don't appreciate the graphics, though I think they're pretty great. Might come down to personal taste. Don't listen to people who say ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like "it's so bad it's good", the reality is that it's just good.
Also, play Quake and Deus Ex, they're great too. You might actually appreciate this game more if you played them first.
it rewards exploring
it has great replayvalue changing levels and strats depending on mood and difficutly
most augeemtns really impact the way you pla
its creative.
yes its not for everyone, its not easy to pick up.
but i am bad at fps and was able to get better at shooting movement and they way to approach the levels.
i finished every level.
example for one creative strat is to shoot a grenade in a big leverl, shot a grenade with the launcher pretty far, hook onto it, and jump, letting you shortcut huge parts of the level.
if you saw something like this before okay, i did not.
afterr few hours the graphics dont bother me anymore and i started to enjoy it, its simple and shows what is needed.
the most important thing for me is, it does not handhold me like i never played a game before, and it rewards putting time into it and learning the mechanics.
and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the music is bangers
realizing the flamethrower was more a healing beam then a weapon by torching bystanders and eating them for a lot of health, how busted you can make yourself by augmenting and how repulsed the peolpe where by you. it all just clicked.
I really wish there was more. larger actual functioning looking levels that you can explorer
