Is this like Gangsters: Organized Crime?
Way back in 1998, there was a game called Gangsters: Organized Crime, I loved that game and have been wanting to play another gangster game like that ever since. Everyone that I've seen or played since hasn't lived up to it. This looks like it might. Can anyone with experience with both games give me their thoughts on how the games compare?

I was actually watching a recent playthru someone did of that on YT. There is actually a lot of things in that game I don't think many remember which is in this game such as setting up alcohol operations.

So to the OP to answer your question. This game has elements of that game but it's not the same game. A big focus of this game is setting up alcohol deliveries however devs have been adding stuff to the game like last patch you can now make gambling halls and casinos and now this patch you can do bank robberies and jewelry heists. But the game is turn based while G:OC was more rts like. This game once you learn it gets addicting but it's not exactly like organized crime. Hope this helps some.

Gangsters: OC vet here. I was just playing my DOS version of the game I have running on my machine, and then tried COG. COG is much more of the management side of things, much like the planning stage of GOC. Its turn based, week to week, and does have a lot of simliar (sandbox) feelings that GOC gives you. The only downside is that there is no real time strategy gun play like GOC offers. If it had that, it would be a really close call to GOC. That said, I really like COG and feel its the best gangster theme game on the modern market, but if you are looking for more gun play, then i'd look for Empire of Sin to fill that void.

ya the thing I learned with this game when I gave it a 2nd chance is once you learn to set up delivery routes the game becomes much more fun. Especially once you have a big crew and everyone is automated doing stuff then you can take a couple guys and mess around with the other gangs. GOC is a great game but I don't think many remember it gets a little wacky too, like constant buildings exploding 1 after another.
This game is great. It focuses on the management side of being in the mafia, which is 90% of it. These are businesses first.

Exactly why I'm here lol. I'm like, this looks close. I think I'm going to grab it, price looks decent enough if the game is solid and still being updated

This is a famous question here, and the answer is no.

This is a tycoon / management game. There is combat but it is very simple and that's pretty much it. No firebombs or anything like that. Turn based. The AI is a little underdeveloped. Most of the "manipulation" in the game is based on relationships, not boomsticks.

That said, I really like this game. It captures the feel of the era very well. I haven't tried the brand new DLC so maybe the addition of roles will expand the "crew" aspect of the game. Before they were just mules and that was all.

The devs are also hard at work adding new things to the game, so who knows, maybe some day this game will superceed the original Gangsters.

I had the game in original box and everything after a visit to Value Village probably 20 years ago, but never actually played it because of and issue with windows or Dos or something. But when i saw this game on my steam store logging in the other day i immediately bought it after looking at the store page for maybe 2 seconds because it was the only game i'd heard of in 20 years that reminded me of Gangsters Organized crime at all

edit: is there any other game like this that even reminds you of Gangsters Organized Crime?

None that I have found.

Thanks for all of the responses. I'm leaning more into buying it now. Because, while I liked the combat aspect of Gangsters, the core of that game was in the planning and expansion, which this game seems to have.
