One of my fronts are managed by a Canadian, so i guess you can get it from a canadian that you have a good relationship with or something
At some point you will also find someone in Canada you is able to transport goods from Canada to Detroit. I found a guy at a shop who was willing to transport goods I had in the vehicle over the river.
See it as a way to start fresh, but across the river. I think the point is to make canadian whiskey there which you can sell at a premium in Detroit. I'm not that far yet, still need to explore Ontario more and start gaining territory.
Thank you! I thought I were going to be able to buy alcohol in Canada and then smuggle it over or something since there were no prohobition in Canada. But that makes sense too
i done that bit, fully explored windsor and east windsor, no option to establish a front on ontario.
i checked people i have reputation and favors with and there is not option to establish a front.
Did the same thing. Turned grape concentrate into brick wine in Canada. Had to scope out almost the enire Canadian side with one gang member to find someone to move this stuff over the river. Problem is: The smuggling of anything costs around 750 and there is no way of making this much from brick wine, even in the US of A. So I resorted to just buying bottled whiskey in Canada (I clould only find one dude who was selling it so far) and move that over. But even then I'm still slightely in the red.
So far I was unable to find a way to establish a second operation in the land of maple sirups - or cancel my brick wine production site.
Cool reply dev. Real cool.
Also kinda triggered its not easy / obvious on how the Canadian mechanic works.
or to paraphrase our snarky dev a bit "Its not ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game dev if its clear and good"
I got the shop in Canada, then transferred $1500 over.
The problem is that there is a "local troublemaker" right next to my Canadian shop and they are related to a rival gang in Detroit.. That gang is at war with me so I am killing them..
I killed the leader of the gang which is the nephew of the local troublemaker in Canada... so she attacks my single person in Canada who has no weapons... And since she is literally next door, I cant heal my character fast enough before she just murders me
So I have had to backup to a previous save and pay her off so she will join me ($800) which leaves me with $700 in Canada... Which is not enough to start any business at all....
So.. has anyone been able to send money to Canada twice?
Originally I thought the mechanic was a once-per-month thing, but I think it's actually related to when you sell a decent amount of wholesale hooch to that business (for me if I sell over 10 crates or so I've noticed the next time I speak to them again I get the option to send money once more - I've sent money to Canada a number of times so far).
Noticed right after sending money there must be a cool down or it's tied to selling a big batch of booze again - if you just sold a bunch, then try selling again the next week and they only take small amounts like 2 or so it isn't available. Still not sure what the cool down is tied too, if it's a number of turns, etc.
I'm struggling in Windsor as well wondering if the only smuggling route back in to Canada is paying those connections 750 each time you want to transport whatever can fit in a vehicle - back in detroit the only Canadian liquors I've found sellers for so far is counterfeit wine or backroom beer and it's not an incredible markup at all if you need to spend 750 on top of getting the booze to sell across the border.
In my business I finally have a grape press set up, and I figure if I encounter the chance to buy more property in Canada maybe start a brick wine operation here has well, but again I dunno about cost of smuggling (though it makes sense people carrying stuff across the border need a cut, lol I kinda like the mechanic). I thought it made sense to make a grape press here since my supply of concentrate in detroit is all basically always under risk of rival gangs right now.
I see in Windsor there is a rail station I have an opportunity with but don't know what all the mechanics are there either. Noticed it doesn't seem you can set up physical fronts/territory in Windsor, but I guess the lack of prohibition there maybe makes the gang violence unnecessary?
