Hey there! A post from the Devs on some of the recent questions about the launcher was made here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1385380/view/3907499744279044136?l=english
Feel free to discuss this topic within the comments of that thread. Do be mindful to be constructive and polite. Thank you for your understanding.
The comment was made here, presumably due to the inability for your team to form and issue a formal response in anyway in the designated thread that addressed anything directly. Moreover when you respond to comments in the Dec 18 thread, you conveniently refuse to acknowledge or discuss any perceived negative topics, commenting on only positive "good job" comments. The, and again I want to state perceived negative comments are from a hurt community base, that has received nothing more than a "Oh well, It'll be fine" pivot from any real concerns. This team is in a very delicate spot right now and if not handled correctly and quickly this game and its company will probably fail (i.e. Harebrained Schemes). Issue a real response, address all of the concerns, don't shy away from your mistakes and short comings, discuss a fix and a path forward. People don't have a problem with the idea of DLC and giving you more money, its the aimless shovel-ware that historically comes from Paradox. Dealing with a new publisher isn't going to burn your fan base, signing on with a greedy bloatware publisher that has a track record of buying up indie titles and said title dying, is the problem. A forced install of targeted ads disguised as a launcher, with no mention whatsoever in any patch notes, and no ability to refuse the install or even stop it before it is installed is a problem. Online only games, are not new and seemingly will be the standard soon enough, the unmentioned removal of offline functionality for a game that has always had it previously is a problem. Your inability to look at other indie studios that have come and gone due to these same type of shady or misguided practices is a problem and seems like a lack of foresight on your part, every issue that i have mentioned and the majority of the community mentioned issues all stem from your partnership with Paradox, as is business and livelihood on the line i get it, you thought this was the best path forward and congrats you got your money and your resources. Lets hope those help with a dying player base, its hard to sell a product when no one trusts it.
I really love this game and have supported it since day 1, and its really sad to see something I love taken hold of by someone that doesn't have its best interest at heart, I sincerely hope it works out and going forward AtO shines past this but I'll hold my hopes and wallet close for now.
This is not your style,huh
Thank you for your honest feedback, and we thank you for your support from day 1 <3. The issues with offline play are not intended behavior, and we hope to see fixed in January. As for not mentioning the launcher in the patch notes, that is entirely on us, the PDX community team, a mistake we give our sincere apologies for.
While we understand that not everyone will be onboard with the current path, we hope that we can show more tangible benefits a launcher can bring in the future. Time will tell!
Hey Soutaglon, sorry to hear about this. Would you be willing to join our Discord[discord.gg] and file a report under our bugs forum?[discord.com]. That way the Dev team can have a look directly. Thanks!
Hey, maybe if you responded to any of the criticism in that thread we wouldn't be bringing it here. What are you doing to restore linux compatibility? If you aren't planning anything at all at least have the courage to tell us.
At least in one would be a good start.
They were much more polite than I would have been. If you do not want opinions and backlash then make smart decisions and get out of this business. No one wants your Christmas card back. With the steam sale up, it is only a matter of time before AtO is forgotten.
because paradox is an amazing company..
