Across the Obelisk
Gustav and Choir, some clarification Please?
So I was looking at Gustav's final level up abilities and Choir...confuses me. I get that it locks Stanza III on all characters, so anyone using Song Spells can cast any spell and not worry about the Stanza requirements. But Stanza III ALSO puts Fatigue on a character at the end of every turn...so does this mean if you run that particular level up ability you have to deal with Fatigue on all characters every turn? That seems...punishing, especially for a Level 5 level up ability.

Doesn't the text on Choir about how stanza III isn't removed mean that the fatigue never applies? I don't think I ever pay that much attention to it since you only get 4-5 fights after you unlock it.

It's possible, I may have to For Science it and experiment. My assumption was that since the Fatigue triggers at the end of the turn, you'd be getting Fatigue every turn. But it's possible the Fatigue is directly linked to Stanza III being removed, and so if it doesn't get removed then no fatigue.
The stanza secondary effects, including the fatigue, are applied only when the stanza is removed. So that upgrade makes everyone just sit with the bonus mind damage and song spell capabilities of stanza 3 the whole time, and you don't get the fatigue even on the first turn where stanza 3 is up. Ultimately ends up giving the whole party one extra energy per fight because they get the stanza 2 end effect.
Yeah, Stanza III doesn't cause Fatigue, the *removal* of Stanza III causes Fatigue.
It's a nice ability, but I think it comes too late. You usually only get it after the Twins, and certainly after the last town. It's worse in Obelisk Mode.

IMO, you absolutely have to plan your deck (using larger cost cards or actual Songs) around getting this ability before you actually get it if you want to maximize it.
Yeah. Gustav already sort of solve the issue this solves.
I am tempted to run 4 scouts at some point, to play around with this. But since it's after the last town, you can't really make many changes to adjust for this ability.
There might be some value if you have more heroes using mind damage.
Or if you are struggling with ill-timed Stanza 2 and 3 songs. (And it might be slightly better with the rest of the build, than the small weapons you could get)
If there were more songs that became cheaper while increasing the stanza requirement for instance, I could see it doing more. You do get a chance to shift your upgrades at the top level.
