If you're capable enough to get through the whole game, you can unlock up to 4 characters a run (1 per act) if you take the proper paths. Look up the unlock methods on the more annoying ones (not just "go here, beat/do a thing")

Is therea recommended guide or reseource for this?
there are guides on Steam available. Personally I recommend trying to unlock 1-2 things during a run. Either 2 heroes, 2 pets or 1 of each. Some pet unlocks, like the frost squirrel are random, so that may be irritating.

If you've got sandbox mode unlocked, pretty sure you can unlock everything with that. I mean, you still have to run through it all to unlock them, it just makes it significantly easier since runs can be done in like 30 minutes.

Looks like you have to beat adventure mode once.

If you don't like playing the game multiple times you could (not suggested) cheat and get a copy of someones save data that has all the characters unlocked already
Is there a place where one could find this safe file?
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2654263360 doesn't have the most recent characters, but should get you a fair chunk of the way there.

As for not wanting to run through the same thing repeatedly, the store tags do mention that it is a roguelite. The game is designed with the intention that you'll play it through a bunch of times and gradually unlock all the stuff, instead of reaching maximum power within a few hours. :-)
If that's a deal-breaker for you (not everyone likes roguelikes or even roguelites) it may be worth considering detail that sooner rather than later.

Isn't the point of a roguelike game to do the same thing over and over again?

I know but for me I just dont like that. The game is cool though. But yeah the sandbox mode solved this for me, and anyone else like me FYI

The point is to make this "thing" fun, not to drag it with "oh, if you're not having fun right now, maybe you should grind some more, cause there're other characters you can unlock and they might be fun"!

I doubt that unlocking more characters can make boring game into a fun game, at least not for me.

I find the game really "clicked" once I had characters & 50 perk points.
Being able to kill mobs in the first round & bosses within the first 2 rounds makes it way more fun than the "grindy & boring" early game where you're only dealing a couple damage per card
The answer is use (WeMod)
Its your game. Cheat a little. Just not too much. Find a sweet spot to make the game more enjoyable for you without making it boring.
