Get Rid of the Launcher

The title explains it. This is garbage. Get rid of it. Seriously why on Earth was this even made a thing.

Pricing of dlc's I can stomach, but this is completely unnecessary and gives us nothing.

The launcher is unnecessary and if it sticks around, I will likely not come back after I put AtO down for a break. Such a bad decision, even if it was what Paradox forced on them.

Devs may care ? I don't know about Paradox lol. They probably forced this decision as the publisher. It's interesting how they seem to have totally misunderstood the playerbase. An indie game going the corporate way won't be easily accepted by people who are tired of capitalism ruining gaming. Smh.

Fact is, even if Paradox made the decision the devs agreed to work with them and knew what they signed up for.

i got the solution to play it without the launcher, you go on betas and choose legacy version 1.25 and then the old game starts

A dev confirmed on the discord that AtO got moved up from a minor studio, in exchange of adopting some of paradox's practices. So this change will come with the launcher, but also continued support and development from the devs.

They were pretty down about the crazy backlash about the launcher, since they really didn't think much of it. MacOS's bugs with the launcher were also fixed after some crunch by a single dev.

They have the launcher because all of Paradox's main games have a launcher.

They were not the only ones down about the crazy backlash in regards to the launcher, as many of us are clearly down about it due to it meaning there is a launcher. I wouldn't have bought the game if it required another launcher. I had no problem paying the clearly marked up cost for the DLCs, as I understood I was supporting a minor studio and that was a part of why I was not having to worry about some random launcher. At bare minimum there should be a workaround available to be able to mitigate needing to have my information taken, ads shown, and to sum this up to not have to open the launcher ever.

Steam, Library, right-click Obelisk, go Properties, General tab,
set Launch Options as

"F:\Steam\steamapps\common\Across the Obelisk\AcrossTheObelisk.exe" %command%

replacing the F:\Steam\etc. with the location in your computer where Obelisk is located.

I really enjoyed ATO and was looking forward to the new character but launcher.. glad I didn't already buy the DLC.
