Madness Levels

How does madness works ? and how do you unlock more levels of madness?

Madness changes the game stats health, damage dealt and so on, and there are options for customising which stats are affected You unlock the next level by beating the game on the previous so M0 -> M1 -> M2

a friend of mine mentioned beating madness level 4 and not being able to play madness level 5 as it was still locked, and finding some spec of information about certain stuff about the game is quite limited since its still quite new i believe

You can set options which will raise the Madness level that the game reports- for example M1 + Impending Doom will be shown as M2. Beating this aggregate level won't unlock M3.

The first time I looked at madness I had up to Madness 4 unlocked. Could it be unlocked based on final scores?

so you saying you need to complete a game with the initial Madness level without any other negative effects to unlock the next level?

Yes that's what they're saying gotta do all madness levels on their own up until madness 8 and then you can start adding corruptors from there.
