Question about crafting cards

You're supposed to be able to craft and upgrade cards once you've unlocked them, but there's a bunch of epic-tier cards I've unlocked, and I can upgrade them, but I can't craft them. (There's a few epic cards I can craft, but plenty more I've unlocked that I can't craft and can't understand why)

Up to Madness 6, you can craft rare (blue) cards in Act 1, and Epic only from Act 2 onward. For Madness 7, you can only craft rare cards in Act 2 and onward, and epic cards in Act 3 onward.

Town upgrades change when you can craft which cards, but mostly you just need to get to a later stage town.

I have the last upgrade for upgrading cards, and I wasn't able to craft epics even in Act 4 (the only ones I could craft were upgraded versions I unlocked during that same run, but for some reason it won't let me craft the base versions of cards I unlocked in that run or in previous runs)

Oh, I might have been mixing up the card tier names. Is epic not the golden cards?

That's where your error is. Gold = Mythic, I believe. Epic = Purple. Rare = Blue. Uncommon = Green. Common no gem.

So it's impossible to craft the base mythic cards then?

Yes. If the gem at the top center of the card is golden you only get it on divination or as battle rewards.
