Zek is SO Much Fun!

Anyone who hasn't given the good Ratboi a try, I HIGHLY recommend it - while he might not be as objectively strong as the default (Evelyn), since his elemental spells are basically worthless, his ability to stack the Insanity and Darkness debuffs is crazy, leading to insane burst damage.
He's also not as good at being a "Mana Battery" as Evelyn is early on, but at Level 2 you can choose Dark Feast, and he can cast his entire hand for free if he has enough Darkness on himself (which he can stack up pretty readily), then use Equivalent Exchange (if you get it) to just give any party member 10 energy on their next turn.
He did really well up until the final boss, who heavily resists Dark damage, but was still a very valuable team member. If you choose both of his perks which increase the resistance penalty Darkness gives, by the time it reaches 25 stacks and explodes it will be reducing it by a total of 75%.

I sadly lost against that final boss, as Magnus sadly couldn't solo 75% of it after my entire party got nuked in a single turn after we got rid of the adds - though he DID manage to get them down to half, which was just nuts.

I haven't tried him with a team more focused around spamming Dark and stuff - this was my first run, and I had a BLAST. Pairing him up with Malukah or Nezglekt may make things even more crazy, but the healing that Reginald puts out is just so good...

Funny,just beat the final boss..Because, It smacked into the wrong hero and took out his hp via the throne effect.

You can also put him in with Thuls and upgrade Poison to reduce dark resist!

I've been running Nazglekt, Malukah, Zek, Heiner(Pure Block) and while it can be slower on bosses, it's very powerful. You can try a scaling scout character in there too if you want a boss killer. I just beat the game three times in a row, even scaling up the madness. (around 35 perk points)
