how are you meant to get the last tier of perks?
So it seems 30 perk points is the max seen I haven't received anymore in the last 3 runs yet the final tier of perks requires spending 30 points to unlock so there's none left to actually take the perk?

Before I reset the game I had 48 perk points, before getting the max, which is 50. Perks are based on the rank of your adventurers, so you can see how much experience you need to unlock the next.

Also, the system is based on the highest rank among all your unlocked characters, meaning that if you have one character with rank 30, and others on rank 10-15, and play only with the 10-15 characters, they will rank up, but not add more perks, because your max rank is still unchanged at 30 (unless they rank up enough to get to rank 31 or higher, of course).

Oh ok so the reason I haven't gotten anymore more perks is because I've started switching between characters trying to find something that will let me get past the first boss in madness 3 with a couple of the optional madness modifiers

I would definitely recommend getting all your Perk points before pushing Madness

All the Heroes can push Madness, but Eve and Heiner are probably the weakest heroes
Both are still completely capable of pushing tho, so it's not like their unplayable.

Honestly it feels impossible to push madness even on 3 with a couple of the optional modifiers I keep on getting destroyed by the dryad/trunky node or the boss fight because of all the santify burn bleed and healing dispelling I get them to lsiver of health then they have a turn and are at full health by turn and I have 50+ burn and bleed on me and get no cards with dispell on my way up to the fight -.-

Hows Heiner weak he's basically unkillable (outside bleed) with amount of shield he easily stack and eve doesn't seem bad with lightning or burn easy stacking

I've done madness 6 with around 16 perk points (several times without issue) and wouldn't recommend maxing out perk points before pushing madness since I think you get more xp on madness so it'll be less grinding to get max perks and it'd probably be boring on lower madness with all the perks.

Some tips:
  • A strong team comp is Ottis + Cornelius + Regi + any front - focus just on adding burns from Corn and get a couple holy fires on Regi
  • Unlock pets - I only had the bunny and sheep but they still help a lot
  • Keep your decks small so you're not struggling to draw what you need. I usually have 1 dispel upgraded to remove 3 curses, 1 mass dispel, a couple healing rains on Ottis and maybe 1 healing rain on Regi.
  • If you have enough burst damage then you won't take hits in the first place + Regi can add sanctify which heals when you damage enemies allowing you to outheal debuffs like thorns.
  • Do boon/boss nodes - For example, in Act 1 go to the hatch, then go to the werewolf boss to get as much xp and loot as possible. Or you could go to the moonstone and use it to remove the minions in the tree boss fight. In the fire zone go to the Colosseum and fight. Do some character quests to get the honorable boon. (check the boon guide for more)
  • Use the saved chest. Do a normal run if you need one, then do I think madness 3 that allows chests + any of the other corruptors. A good deck + items is more important than perks, a lot of the items can make you go from struggling to insanely OP in an instant.

I'm assuming "modifiers" are the optional corruption, and absolutely they can make the fight incredibly difficult, potentially even impossible if you're not ready for it.

Pushing out enemies before they can get a turn is huge. Try to focus targets down.

All the frontliners (every Warrior and Andrin) are basically unkillable; it's not enough. They need to do more to be optimal as you push madness.

Eve is okay, she's not inherently bad... but also none of the heroes are inherently bad... Saying one of them is the weakest is a simple question of there are 4 FiveStars restaurants in your area. They are all Five Stars, some of the best food in the world... but you still MUST rank them. Which means, someone needs to be first, and someone needs to be the worst.

Isn't that the old system? As far as I can see, this got changed with the swap to the new perk trees. Now you simply get "account XP" that rack up your perk points till you reach 50 independently of your character's respective levels, which determine their skins (and possibly the power level of their character specific cards?).

Proof: I have 50 perk points but do not have any character above the high 30s.

Then I guess this is how it works. For me it worked the way I described, at least. And if it works the way you say, why is this thread a thing? Then OP would jave gained perks, and not written the opening post?

Edit: there used to be an even earlier system, where each character had their own perks, based on that character's rank. But I guess that was too logical ;)

Thanks for tips but been doing all of that and it's not working
  • I have 4 pets the spider the sheep the occly and the rabbit
  • Thorns have never been an issue it's always the burn/bleed sanctify even with multiple dispells they are never around in time to cleanse in time plus the buss just uses moon beam which applies sanctify and burn each hit to everyone and heals him to full or basically full even when he only has 30-50% health
  • I have tried stacking burn on Cornelius but the dryad and boss just constantly cleanse themselves and heal to full with multihit sanct attacks completely negating the damage of burn even when I have 80 burn stacked which just ends up killing him
  • There is no chest rewards in madness I haven't seen one at all however each run automatically starts with 3200 money and gems which I use all of
