Remember there's a refund timer on Steam if you buy it through Steam, meaning you can play for like a decent two hours and see if the general system mechanics and characters are for you. You can do the same with mk1. or well, if you have a friend who owns it - remote play or family share.
Take the plunge!
TRUST ME.
Smell that game, gamer
What do you hate about Street Fighter? The execution-level? The character-design?
*classic fighting game meaning fireballs, zoning and stuff.
guilty gear strive has the best online experience in the 2d fighter scene soo far.
the floors system is really nice. (this is what got me)
basically there are 11 floor for you to climb up
higher floor=better opponent
don't you want to be amongst the gods !?
you strive to reach the pinnacle !
in short its prob the first time i get this invested playing a online mode
peoples are polite and play all three matchs usually.
no lag etc
As someone who tried getting into fighting games many times and JUST THIS YEAR kinda managed to got into it with SF6
I REALLY recommend you to get something with a lot of players, especially if you don't have a friend who is also into fighting games
Playing a fighting game with low population as a newcomer to the genre overall is TOUGH
This is def a genre where u need people to LEARN WITH
doing 1v1's with people way above you when u don't even know the fundimentals of the genre won't teach you anything and u will just quit
A game with a lots of people means u are more likely to find people who are just as bad as you are at the game
I personally bought a ton of em and quit all for that reason until SF6 where I was able to actually play with people who were just as bad, and learn my way slowly(I still suck btw)
I am currently planning to try Guilty Gear Strive cuz I can't stop listening to its Soundtrack, might as well learn the game a bit as well.
I think if you want a 2D fighter specifically SF6 and Guilty Gear Strive might be your best options
Mortal Kombat is probably also a good choice but I personally couldn't enjoy them no matter how hard I tried, your mileage will likely vary.
if you are fine with 3D fighters, Tekken8 might be a good option as well, esp when its brand new cuz u will have other newbies who got in with the hype.
Lemme also do a little plug at the end,
I also have no Fighting game friends so >.> if u are from Europe and wanna try GGST together, I'm down.
