Strive won't detect my button box
Like I said. Played since release with it just fine. It even worked yesterday. But now it suddenly won't detect my button box.
I know my box is fine because Xrd detects it and I can play that just fine.
I've tried restarting, reinstalling and verifying game files, starting on keyboard then getting to the controller detect screen and anything else I could find online. As far as I can tell, Strive just does not see my box.

On the windows test screen everything works fine. It's just something with Strive is ♥♥♥♥♥♥. This game keeps giving me problems when the old guilty gears continue to work just fine. Very cool 100 dollars game

goto steam settings - controller - External Gamepad settings - Check Enable Steam Input for Xbox controllers (x-input) - Check Enable Steam input for Generic controllers (d-input)

That may or may not work but it probably will.

Probably has nothing to do with the game, since it's made in UE4 and uses standard xinput protocols. Sounds like a steam input setting got changed somewhere, which acts as a pass through for games on steam; if that pass through is set to not recognize or otherwise not work with xinput, then it will cause games to not recognize that a controller is even connected. If you're using anything powered by Brook or any other controller manufacturer in the past 10 years, it's xinput, though you might also make sure dinput support is enabled for really old or cheap controllers just to be sure. That's where you should start.

I have absolutely no idea what fixed it, but it works now. Tried enabling and disabling steam input and nothing worked. Went into steam settings to f around with x-input and generic support and that didn't help either. I disabled everything again, still nothing. I enabled everything again and it suddenly works now. I think Steam was not recognizing my controller at first, and somehow disabling and re-enabling something fixed it, but if that's the case then I have no idea why it'd work in Xrd and not Strive. Thanks guys

Steam has default controller settings across all games, as well as controller settings per game. It's likely that steam's Strive-specific controller settings were damaged or somehow weren't loading correctly. Disabling and enabling the settings probably reset them to what they should've been, fixing the issue.

I'm just taking educated guesses, of course. Obviously I don't know for sure. But either way, I'm glad you got it working again.
