Failed to download R-code issue

I figured I should try out the game again after having put it down for a year or so, but both on launch and trying to connect online, the game just says "communicating with server" for around half an hour before telling me there's an issue with the R-code. Looking on the main menu under Edit I can see my R-code where it last was, but something server side seems to be wrong. Does anyone know of anything I can do?

Also just mentioning, the reason I'm asking here is I've already googled the issue but every result is from years back during the beta. No clue why this is affecting me now.

Right off the top of my head, this sounds like the firewall is stopping your connection to the Strive servers. Does your firewall have exceptions for Strive, both incoming and outgoing?
