Ranked mode is on the way
Ranked mode just got announced at the arc world tour its coming in June. Tower is now a casual mode. All of the tower glazers need to suck it this game is gonna succeed and thrive when ranked comes. :3

But at its core, you're basically just substituting 'tower x', with 'gold', 'plat', etc. We need more information on what exactly is going to be changing before we can determine how different the new system is going to be.

Regardless, I hope the stations/lobbies remain an option for ranked play. I love the arcade/organic vibe to it, and it's usually faster than waiting on MM.
Tower and park will continue to exist. The ranked matchmaking mode will be similar to SF6's and will be added in, not replacing anything. So if you like the tower, you can continue enjoying it.

If it's not replacing it, then towers would have to be converted into casual lobbies. It wouldn't make sense to maintain two different ranking systems. So this would still force me out of towers for ranked play.

why not? and how?

youll just have both ''floor level'' and ''ranking''. Youll only be forced out if you wanna be more competitive, since the more competitive players will migrate to the new ranking sys

Majority will migrate to the ranking system matchmaking from floors (if they have a brain) because it won't have the awful empty lobby assignment, bugged battle station, limited
32(31 choices, 90% of which you won't ever match against) player pool, and general flippant segregation of players as many floors barely differ and are just bloat
kind of nonsense.
It's just more beneficial to all players. Only reason for floors is to farm celestial's over inflated character exp for flaunting purposes (weird) if max rank doesn't already offer that but of course the risk of losing your 'points'.

Though I fully expect it's release to be buggy as hell and not match players consistently(even though 3v3 kind of is a precursor system wise) cause of course that has to be the norm for Arcsys.

Assigning two different rankings is redundant and sloppy. I can't think of a game that does this. On top of that, there's no benefit to splitting the playerbase like this. As others have mentioned, floors would mostly be dead anyway. So it makes more sense to merge some of the good things about floors into the new ranked system.

Personally, I just want the lobbies and stations to carry over as an option for the new ranked mode. Everything else about floors can go.
