I'm getting frustrated against Johnny
So I dusted off my Goldlewis to start playing him again in floors 7-9 and I just don't know how I can crack a Johnny with solid offence (and Baiken but I'll rant about that later).

He takes his turn at round start unless I WA. He takes his turn after a throw tech. He's able to control the air against approaches. He just plain outranges me in his pressure unless I call out a jump.

Just looking for some tips to ease my pain. These Johnnys are everywhere.

generally people want to know about how to deal with the oppenents pressure but the only way for the opponent to start there pressure is to get you block. Get a good game plan in neutral and for everything. Against johnny pressure the main threat is his 50/50 with his mist finer and they can throw in a dash up throw. Johnny players like doing the overhead mist finer when they have 50 meter and get a C,s meaty on you. They also dont need meter for it when they have a card down. if your getting caught by his grab try to watch out for it and avoid it by jump or backdashing. For goldlewis if you ever use your drone to win neutral always watch out for johnny card super and just dash block while your running up, if they jump then just j,s. dustloop is a great website so you can check out the counterplay and many other things there.

Dustloop offers good counterstrategy pages for each character, If you are struggling with a matchup I suggest looking these up. The Johnny vs Goldlewis matchup is heavily in Johnny's favor, but that doesn't meant that there aren't any cheeky outplays you can do. Remember to use 486H as a poke to surprise him. With the season 4 buffs, you can even make this a dangerous guessing game for your opponent with the ability to cancel into the same move again with security gauge. If they don't respect you, they will most likely get hit by the second attack.

"For slower characters dash blocking becomes essential as a safe means of approach. If Johnny does not have Tension, he will always be minus after a blockstring, allowing you to dash block to continue your advance, or dash into a f.S, or some other long range poke and take a turn depending on your poke's range. Riskier approaches are also possible. Dash 6P will beat a f.S from Johnny but typically lose to 2S unless close, and IAD will allow most characters to go over f.S and 2S, but can be anti-aired if Johnny is looking out for it."
