Now that in real world people have no idea what a man or a woman is, it kinda makes sense that a character like him is the one who is the most confused. Because if he wasn't confused he would at least call himself a "trans-girl" which is not the same as being a real girl. Simply calling yourself a girl doesn't remove your shlong or change each cell of his body to store a different set of chromosomes.
On other hand in GG universe things like changing sex for real, including every single cell that stores chromosome, hormonal pathways, internal organ structure etc, may as well be possible. But that process isn't mentioned afaik.
So in the end, Bridget is a walking controversy. In my opinion - he was designed that way with a conscious decision driven by pr department, not gender ideology. And It worked as we are still talking about him.
