Tutorial: How to fix controller not working

All you do...

Log into the main menu using the "U" key on your computer.

When you get to the main menu after loading in scroll down to "Title Screen"

When you get back to the title screen press the start button on the controller you want to use.

It helps if you're in Big Picture mode with controller enabled.

I found out that this happens because Guilty Gear picks up your Keyboard as controller #1 by default and there is NO WAY to change it in game except for the method I listed above.

For me I had to enable steam input to be able to bind my arcade stick (it would work with steam input disabled, but the buttons were forced to default layout).

Right click the game in your library, then properties. It lives under the Controller section.

it aint doin it for me. i am using a ps3 controller running over scp toolkik. scp toolkit tells me the controller is working fine and my ub s devicews tell me the same story. i can see that on steam it recognises my controller and loads the controllscheme but it doesnt workl ingame at all.

Any fix for this issue if you only have it installed through the Xbox app/gamepass? Got the controller working in menus but character select defaults back to keyboard.

I may have had the same problem as you.
I was able to fix it by going to windows device manager, finding that controller and "uninstall device".
I don't know if this will help, but I'll post it here.

Could you send a video or something? I'm also having the same problem and I have no idea what to do tbh (I'm very dumb sorry)

The controller doesn't work for some reason if you don't press "A" on the controller in the main menu. Wait for the menu to show up, see if you can press A on the controller. For people with older controllers Steam might not automatically connect to your controller, use an external program to emulate a X360 controller which windows recognizes.
