today I learned I am extremely bad at fighting games
Bought the game for Bridget as I love her character but turns out I'm complete ass and knowing the learning curve and how good people are these days is a bit of bummer. I know I should keep practicing but knowing me who has a terrible memory and is stupid and cant even react fast enough for moves is gonna take me months to even learn the basic. Though at least I got to play her for a couple of games but fighting games are just clearly not for me sadly as I finally realize.

I don't think it's much to do with intelligence
well, being good at FTGs means being good at mindgames as well. not only being able to pull off combos and stuff.
but I'm just a random person on the Internet, don't pay any attention to me.

My last Fighting game was 20 years ago with Guilty Gear XX. I suck too... To the level that I don't even DARE to fight online yet because I don't want to get discouraged and feel like I've wasted 60 bucks on a hopeless dream :D

But I'll keep fighting!

My friend, it takes time. You're not going to be Bruce Lee right away if that's what you're expecting. And here's some practical help I did and helped my 54 year-old butt amazingly:

If you don't know where to start, here's my advice: Go into training mode and just press buttons to see what your moves do.

This is exactly how I started. Learn each button for punch, kick, slash, high slash, and dust. Attack with punch repetitively. Repeat with each of the others. Learn one combo. Play the CPU a bunch then try an online match. Just relax, get into the beauty and fun of the game. Wins won't keep you coming back, only fun will.

Play some single player stuff at low difficulty, go through some survival mode to crank out some rounds while you work on landing combos and setups in action in a no stress environment. See how many wins you can rack up there, and if you can beat your previous record. Try doing some mission stuff to get the hang of the system basics.

Eventually, you'll start getting a better feel of Bridget's toolkit and have some more confidence that you can at least make someone work for a win against you. It'll still be frustrating at times, but keep at it, and you'll at least be able to enjoy the game on your own terms, with the fun characters and great presentation,.

Please stop using twitter for god sake
If you read the comments, he goes on to update us that he’s gotten better at the game. Your advice is still sound in regards to the general public, though.

That's the secret chief, we're all bad at the game 😅

The fun is in the learning process my dude, play to get better not to win. Try to find satisfaction in just being able to deal with a set-up that wrecked you before.

Maybe try to watch some guides on the character on YT, look for Diaphone/Sajam/Romolla on there. They all have some good Bridget content.

Keep it up, you'll eff people up with the yo-yos sooner than you think 💪

you picked a hard character to start with, a lot of quarters, low damage and health, and a gameplan revolving mostly on getting in your opponents head. i've been playing her since she dropped and im still absolutely ass at her, so don't feel too bad about being bad lmao

If you stick with Bridget, keep observing how your opponents react to his moves.

You'll learn how he interacts with the rest of roster, you have to think about his move list as it pertains to who you're playing against.

Unfortunately the best time to learn a fighter is at launch. All I can say to help you is check out Dustloop, watch other matches, find a Discord to join to help you out, and take breaks if you feel like you're getting nowhere, don't burn yourself out.

Refund this turd for nerds and get something like SF5 or MK11.

SF5's only in a playable state now and MK11 isn't even a fighter lmao

Fighting games are for everyone.

The first thing I'd do is not to learn the fighting game but to learn to love myself better and get more self-confidence. Beating yourself up is the worst matchup you can get.
