why do all 2D fighter games suffer the same issue for me
update https://steamcommunity.com/app/1384160/discussions/0/4525638486578190620/

where you can't do a string of combos without breaking your controller, the camera feels really zoomed in, almost every attack makes you "stationary".
it pisses me off so much that they can't get 2D fighters right for me.
some characters move really slowly and when i try to guess a normal combo my character either just kick kick kick or jab jab jab.
why is the control cheme so bad in 2D fighters?
they all suffer from the same issue in which 3D fighters such as tekken and soulcalibur doesn't suffer from.

the combo aspect can be challenging sometimes, it's better to learn more simple combos you can do without breaking your controller.

the camera has to be a little more zoomed in, in strive because the stages are much smaller, but in other 2d fighters it kinda has to be that way so you can actually see whats happening.

there are some characters that have advancing attacks that move you forward when you use them, though everyone does have buttons that keep them in place when performed, i don't really understand what the issue there is with that though.

characters moving slower than others is by design as they fit certain archetypes, rush-downs are meant to be fast and in your face with a plethora of movement options while grapplers are usually slower but bulkier and deal more damage.

the controls (in most fighting games i think) can be remapped to something you are much more comfortable with if you're having trouble with the base layout

What fighting games do you gravitate toward more than Strive? Like older school games?

yup :(
I played a little of BBCF and it seemed hard for me, but strive actually is pretty easy. You just didn't get a hang of it. But it seems you've already refunded:steamsad:

3D fighters use strings; 2D fighters use links and gatlings. Normals don't have precanned followups like they do in Tekken, and instead you need to know which normals flow into which or you need to special cancel. For the reverse reason that you don't like 2D fighters, I have a hars time getting into 3D ones (I don't like strings).

Consider looking at Mortal Kombat. It is a 2D fighter, but it uses string combos like a 3D fighter. Imo it kinda feels like a 2D Tekken, so it might click easier with you.

It's all muscle memory. I know it's frustrating but just practice the combo until you can do it 5-10 times in a row. Then when you can do that, fight the CPU on a level you feel comfortable with. The point isn't to win, it's to pull off the combo you just practiced, so even if it means losing, still try to put yourself in situations (usually called 'confirms') where you can pull it off. You'll get a feel for the timing. Trust me, I understand your frustration.

Frustration and anger are all part of the process for fighting games and most things in life for that matter. Keep getting up after being knocked down and try harder each time. If you really want it, you can do it and have fun with it.
