Coming from Street Fighter, need some help with a main.

Hey y’all. Just bought this after being a little tired of 250 hours of Street Fighter 6. Just looking for some general gameplay tips or maybe links to the best guides for learning the system mechanics? In addition I need some main recommendations. I was able to get to Master with Marisa in Street Fighter 6 and got to grandmaster with Kage in Street Fighter 5.

What characters are the best in this game for me? I’m essentially looking for characters that allow you to brute force/mash in the opponent’s face until they finally relent. I’m not familiar with the cast of GG at all.

I came from Sf6 as well, you could play someone like your Sf6 main, i main JP and Testament in both games. if you dont want to do that then just find someone who you like or someone who you find fun playing with. That is good for choosing a main. But some good characters for beginners i have found is Sol Badguy, Ramlethal, Ky Kyske and Giovanna. I would definitely find someone who you enjoy playing or you like first.

You want Sol "Being Minus is a State of Mind" Badguy.

Recommendations are Sol/ky, which are shoto (hence, Ryu and ken playstyle) and bedman/ramlethal. (rushdown heavy gameplay as marisa) you can also check on potemkin,

I suggest to check some guides on here, specially for ramlethal.

Sol is probably who you want. Every character in GG has a playstyle "gimmick" and Sol's is to be right in your face and hit you hard a lot. He's difficult to contest, and he has some pretty nasty mixups. He sorta dares his opponent to press on his pressure, because he'll blow them up with a counter hit starter if they try. Sol also has a (very difficult to land in a real match and admittedly almost useless) full screen raging demon that deals more damage than any other single move in the game, so there's that as well if you care about that sort of thing. I get the same feeling playing Sol that I get from playing Kage; their moves are different obviously, but their moment to moment gameplay at decent levels feels similar.

I main Ramlethal, and I think she's also a good pick. Similar to Sol, her whole thing is to keep slapping you with high damage normals that are difficult to contest, except she does her stuff from mid screen instead of point blank. Consider Marisa 236K, then imagine if that was a disjointed normal you could just throw out over and over again and be safe; that's Ramlethal. She's a bit more "boring" than Sol, but she bulldozes all the same.
