Newbie Friendly?
Never played much fighting games. This game looks interesting too me, but always have done terrible with fighting games. I struggle with learning combos, grapples, blocks etc.. How new player friendly is this game? Or should I just stay away.

100% one of the more beginner friendly fighting games and a good gateway into the genre, theres a high skill ceiling but you can get started fairly quickly, doing things like blocking and grabbing as you said is as simple as just pressing a button.
look at some guides and figure out the character for you and just start playing, dont be scared to go into online matches either thats the best way to get better at a lot of these games

The most useful combos in the game are short and simple. If you want to learn something extra for a bit of damage, that's there for those who want it, but it's not required. It's a pretty swingy game, so it's pretty easy for a newer player to pull one over on experienced players just by doing something wild once or twice and taking a round. At the same time, there are LOT of mechanics to learn, not just for the game itself but for each individual character as each one is kind of playing their own game and if you don't know how that game works, they're going to roll you (on the flip side, your opponent will just as often not understand your game and you can get free wins like that). Out of all the major fighting games out right now, GGST is probably one of the most newbie friendly with the smallest barriers to entry and greatest ease of accessing what you might call the "true game" where two people are intentionally piloting something they understand all the aspects of.

The best way to get into this game is to find a community and/or play with friends. I do not recommend quietly playing by yourself in the ladder. It's not impossible to learn the game that way, but it's MUCH harder and MUCH less fun. Why do that to yourself?

Lastly, make sure you are fundamentally, inside your core personhood, okay with losing a lot, perhaps all the time. This is a competitive game, and every match has only one winner. The other player winning doesn't mean you are bad, it's just means you're not as good, or you guessed wrong (guessing is a skill). If you can have fun smashing le funni animu men together and can independently judge your own level of play regardless of victory, then you'll do really really well at this game and have an absolute blast. If you need a drip feed of gratification or feel personally demoralized, attacked, or embarrassed when you play games against people much more skilled than you, you're going to have a really bad time and I don't recommend this or any fighting game for you.

if you do AVOID the open park

there's two ways to play against random people online, park and tower. park is basically casual and tower is ranked, in tower you'll find people around your skill level and never go higher than the floor you've been placed on unless you want a challenge or maybe a headache. open park is filled with really good players that have countless hours on this game, you'd find much harder matches there than your current floor in tower even though it's casual.

good luck have fun #robokyforseason4

This.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking that "unranked" means "casual" here, it does not. The parks are filled with killers. Stick to the tower to fight people of your own skill level.

Lil late to the party but at a person with a little less hours than probably the average player now (185 and counting) I've found my strive experience to be great. Not too rough for learning but the skill ceiling is almost as high as you make it. The characters are very unique but all of them have their own personal gimmicks to them. Always take your time with the game, I've only ended up taking long breaks after rushing something. :rinzzz:

I learned by just picking a character and playing local or arcade. I picked nago who's actually one of the harder ones. just learn one or two moves and play for a bit so you're comfortable with them. you can also pause the game and look at the moves list in both of those modes which helps a ton.
