Game needs better rewarding system
Like the title says, this game needs a better/revamped rewarding system. I've seen myself lately playing the game less and less because I know that I'll barely get any satisfying XP at this point. I'm beyond tired of getting that lame ass 10K XP every time I fight someone. Getting anything above or close to 100K XP is nigh impossible for me at this point.

I've asked people who are level 2K and above and all they've said was "I fought people higher than my level". Ok, I tried that and got that measly 10K again...
I'm here struggling to get to level 2K with my main for months now and no, I'm not on a constant losing streak. I'm wondering how some people get beyond 3,4,5 or even level 6K.

Same reason people like hoarding achievements (and their sometimes associated points): "number go UP, feel GOOD"

But on a serious note I agree - I would love for there to be more rewards/unlockables outside of fishing. The old games had unique illustrations unlocked for for beating Arcade Mode or Mission mode and I was a huge fan of that. Rewards for reaching a certain level with a character could be something like allowing your avatar to shoot out a little Gunflame if you leveled up Sol or, or put out Millia's disc, stuff like that. That's all second to playable characters and online stability though so hopefully that's where dev hours are going.

I've always associated the leveling up with some sort of a progress tracker. The higher the level, the better the progress. It may not always be the case, but I like to chase some goal/milestone/achievement whatever you wanna call it. Last year I was trying to reach top 150 - 200 players and I'm glad I did. Right now the goal is to reach level 2000. After a while I might want to reach level 3000 and so on.

Tied up with those level-ups I learn matchups, new techs, etc. When I don't feel rewarded (example is that measly 10K XP I'm always getting) it kills my vibe to keep playing. I'm not saying I want to get 250K-275K every time I win, but getting higher amounts of XP more often would be nice.

I agree with you. I would like to have some unlockables through challenges or something else. Beating this challenge unlocks this color variant or new tracks outside of fishing, etc.

ArcSys did post a picture of new color variants a few months ago, but they never bothered to keep us updated on whats going on with the additional colors. Unlocking titles for the Wanted poster or maybe a different background and stuff like that would be a nice addition to the game.

the game itself is the satisfying thing about the game .
i really dont get this mentality some players have these days where they need digital dogtreats to do their homework otherwise it isnt fun or rewarding . you are playing a phenomenal game to play the game , right ?`

the main reason to play a game should be the game

Yes, definitely. That's why it's second to the other 2 points. It's just some stuff for additional flair. The game could do without character unique intros and outros, instant kills and all previous soundtracks. Yet they're things a lot of people are missing from the old games.
They don't necessarily need to be gated behind a "challenge", but I personally prefer it that way. I get your point about the "digital dog treats" being used in abundance nowadays - but extra rewards for completing challenges have been around for quite a while with Metroid coming to mind, released almost 4 decades ago. A lot of people like it.

I play the game because I find the gameplay fun and satisfying. Why someone would no more reward for playing the game other than the enjoyment of playing it...I guess I just don't understand the need.

Play the game because it's fun. Or don't because you don't like it. If you need to level up in order for the game to be fun, then maybe the game isn't for you.

Hell I can't stand the levels in this game because sometimes I'll get matched with someone i'm 1k+ levels above and they just dodge it despite the fact i'm like a bottom tier celestial potemkin that constantly gets counter hit because he has no good buttons to push and i refuse to not push said buttons.

Easy fix, get into celestial, you get so manny levels when you win on the celestial floor (even during the challenge runs). You get like 1 or 2 levels per win; instead of require multiple wins for 1 level in Floor10 and such.

I only been celestial twice and my level went from 130 to like 200 after my very first time in celestial; Im yet to play as I only recently got my 2nd celestial rank this very month, but given the current tower issues; I do not look forward to play.

You say that, yet you are a celestial player, the levels dont mean much but is an indicator of how much experience you have with said character, so you probabbly know the matchup MUCH better than people below level 500 or 200.

Since the skill level is ALL OVER THE PLACE for Floors 10, 10.5 and Celestial; the character level is the better indicator ingame.

I feel like I would play the game less if it had "rewards". Why would I need to "unlock" stuff in a game I have bought, through homeworks which I definitely do not want to participate in? I can think of why but not in a fighting game, it is a fighting game what am I to get awarded with, new moves? I cant think of a big enough reward that you may want to chase after yet small enough that people who dont chase after it dont feel locked behind.

In mk11 it was a literal homework to get skins through towers where you play against bots, I hated that. But of course that was warner bros if you did not want to grind through unfun towers you could just buy the skins, in a store with rotation, to the netherrealm with you :bern:
Nah I get everyones saying "You should be playing the game to have fun, not earn rewards", which is true.

However giving the player to work on something besides just getting better at the game is also important. Giving players objectives gets players to retain interest.

Like it or not, "digital dog treats" keeps games played. Human brain works weird.
