GGST is horrible to learn
it's horrible trying to learn GGST compared to other fighting games, there's no frame data for any of the moves and the training menu is awful. even trying to learn combos with the weird menu is needlessly more cluttered than it has to be. i love every character in the game and i love Guilty Gear but it's just awful trying to learn stuff compared to other fighting games.

That's not helpful.
The whole community around fighting games, and especially anime based fighting games, is made of gatekeepers.
But they are the same that scream when playerbase is dead end low after 2 weeks.

Frame data should be the least of a new player's problems

Training mode isn't going to help you win the games if you cannot execute what you learn properly within a match.
You need to actually play the game.

when the entire game revolves around frame traps and strike throw, yeah.

maybe because it's not the developer's intention that you need to know the framedata and hitboxes of every attack, it's essentially debug mode. the average player will do fine with the record and play/counter function.

it's like asking why a game like CSGO doesn't really teach you about spray patterns or DOTA 2 doesn't teach you about creep blocking/pulling (at least the last time I played them) etc. even though they're important aspects of those games if you want to play at a higher level.

i don't think in-game framedata is a bad idea, it could be like an "advanced" option that you can manually enable, so it doesn't overwhelm new players.

a casual player gets more mileage out of a short and snappy description of when and where to use a move, if it's good for pressure etc. which this game tried to do with the descriptions of special moves. it should have that for every attack of the character instead of just the specials.

Go through the missions if you want to learn the game. I thought it was pretty good and helpful.

frame data isnt THAT important especially when learning. jsut get ur basic combos down , watch some youtubers that are good, and just keep at it. i was trting to d oa combo for a hour yesterday, couldnt do it then i was just like wait a minute maybe im jsut trying the input to fast, then started nailing it. my point is theres goign to be alot of trial and error but u will figure it out, jsut dont waste ur time on frame data etc. not right now anyway
game is so easy made for little baby just press 2 buttons to make 100% damage combo and you still cry this is why gaming is dead

It isn't bad, but not good either. In fact, one should learn playing fighting games starting from older stuff, 2000's and earlier. From then on, every fighting game started getting more and more lenient, accepting lazy inputs and allowing bizarre things.

I don't care about the lack of frame data or visual hit/hurtboxes, this is particular to GGST, but all games fail teach the game how to really input a command, since "anything goes", so newcomers don't get frustated and "cancel" the game.
