Quick match puts you on the highest floor you can do in the first available instance, this can be a dead instance. And you will be on a battle station in the floor but in the Standby in Training Mode state, So you won't personally interact with the floor, but the floor will be effecting you with all it's annoying problems. Of failing battle stations, limited player selections due to limited population instances, etc.
It puts you in an empty lobby or lobbies that has like only 3 to 4 players.
Also the quick match option should be actively searching a match for you instead of having others players find you. How will they find if you are in an empty lobby.
I played many other fighting games where you can literally just use their fast matchup option and the game actually find you a match based on the ping parameter that you set.
Sf5, sf6 beta, dbfz and even xrd rev 2, they all had this option.
