The Bridget "Drama" Needs to Stop
This stupid gender debate is getting so out of hand that its beginning to overshadow the fact we just got a brand new DLC character we've been asking for and the start of Season 2. I dont even know if ArcSys or Team RED reads steam forums or Twitter but I'm this close to trying to reach out to them to make an official statement about it just so people will stop arguing so we can all go back to making the character we main punch each other to death.

any trans or non-binary in a game or other result in transphobia and very useless long debates on genders (especially on internet)
not true, this only happens when a preexisting character is hijacked and stolen from their established parameters, especially when it's done at the expense of the author's intent.

Anime and manga are filled with trans characters, the list would be too long, in most cases no one cares.

Every controversy where this happens always is tied to localization changing things away from the author's intent, or an unexpected plot twist that people are trying to get their head around to see if it lines up (as all fans of fiction do when there's a plot twist of any kind whatsoever) It's NOT transphobia.

For example, there was controversy around Poision from Final Fight, and then later Street Fighter, that was because her localization history is very complicated and every time she entered a new game, different changes were made, and people didn't know what the original design intention was. From the beginning she was made "new half" which the closest analogy that would be is "trans", but the stated motivation was because Capcom didn't want to get attacked by women's rights activists by having a woman getting beaten up by players (if that sounds transphobic, consider there were no trans activists yet at the time to clear up what being trans means for an individual). That complicated history wasn't known to many, so the idea that the character was trans came out of the blue for them.

You had literally the exact same cope of "SJW translators" with Testament.

How'd that work out?

I'm still right about that, so I don't understand the question.

You don't seem to care about what's correct or true, only what ideas you can impose on others regardless of fact.

The Japanese devs literally said Testament was NB because of delusional weirdos like you and you're still coping.

Even if Daisuke himself said in his broken English "Bridget is girl" you'd still not believe it cause you're that delusional

The Japanese devs are not native English speakers, nor are they aware of the politicization of the term "non-binary".

If they did, they would have called him either, Asexual, or No-gender/Agender. You call me weirdo because I simply have more information than you do.

btw:

It's also worth mentioning that the original Japanese for Testament's entries refer to him as "青年" (young man) and "義理の息子" ([Cliff's] son-in-law). The localizers changed this in the most recent English patch to conform to the whole non-binary thing, but they missed a handful of entries that still reference his gender. The Japanese version didn't change the gender of Testament or Bridget, and GG World still refers to them as male.

He's memeing the same way people who say Pot is best girl, it's a joke 2 fold because Bridget is a cross dressing character, like Astolfo from Fate, but better because Bridget isn't trying to trick anyone.

Seems to be a localization issue like I suspected, but not in the usual way, it seems the tone which the Bridget said certain things was misinterpreted by either the localizers or the VA themselves, not sure which, but it doesn't matter, what matters is that as far as Japan is concerned, the dialogue they heard/read made it clear that Bridget is a boy who cross dresses, and neither of the endings change that.

So it seems that the correct answer will depend on what language you play the game on. Bridget is a trans girl if you play on English language voice and text, Bridget is a cross dressing boy if you play on Japanese language voice and text.
wow, just like the square enix ethics department manipulating their games and bethesda politically projected localisation in their japanese games, I smell bamco bulls*iterry in this. localisation has always been a cancer, not sure if Ken Akamatsu and the anti censorship board has any power in controlling them, but I hope they eventually cut this cancer out.

You can change the game's language to Japanese through its app settings before launch. In the Japanese GG World entries, Bridget is referred to as a "boy" and Testament is referred to as a "young man" and Kliff's "son-in-law". The localizers simply changed things to push their agenda.

Even when the Japanese directly say Testament is NB you still are on about localizers. I bet you think they forced the Japanese to say that too.

Lol cope

Yeah this dudes argument is unbearable. Just like when he said the exact same thing for Testament before the Japanese team explicitly said Testament is NB. (He stopped posting after that)

But please go on about manipulation lol

You mean "after" I said it AFTER the Japanese team used an English word they don't know the cultural and political baggage tied to the word they chose because they're not native English speakers.

I'm still correct about that, Testament is referred to with masculine pronouns in Japanese, only the English translation uses "non-binary" which is not the most fitting word to describe is being without a sex.
