Who's the better "Shoto"? Sol, Ky, or Leo?
I'm asking because I'm leaning a bit towards Ky for certain match ups and Sol for other ones.

Of the three Leo is generally considered the strongest character, easily. Sol and Ky are a lot closer in power level to each other. It's hard to say exactly how strong they are since Sol started out strong and got nerfed a bunch so people doom about him all the time and Ky players are eternally downplaying him even then he's actually really good now. In my mind they're both equally viable and strong.

If you're wanting to know who best delivers jack-of-all-trades midrange type of gameplay, Ky is what you're looking for. Ky is as well rounded of a character as you can possibly get in this game. Sol and Leo are both very rushdown oriented characters who happen to have a balanced toolset to help them when they're not in your face pressuring you. Also Leo's inputs for his fireball and DP aren't traditional shoto inputs, he has charge inputs like Guile.

I don't think Leo at all fills the Shoto role. The only thing shoto things he has is a projectile and a DP, though they're more like Guile's Sonic Boom and Flash Kick, and Leo is the definition of rushdown unga gorilla character (to the point where the term "unga" originated with him in Xrd). Sol sounds like a shoto on paper, as he has a projectile, a DP, and a traveling move, but in practice he's also a rushdown character who wants to get up in your face. Gunflame is more of a pressure tool than an actual Hadoken style projectile.

Ky is the most shoto out of the three. He's designed to play the midrange spacing game and is a jack of all trades. He can zone you with his projectiles, DP, has a traveling kick move, but doesn't particularly excel in any of these areas. Play Ky if you want a Ryu-style shoto. Sol and Leo don't really fit the shoto archetype.

Ky is Ryu. Sol is Ken. It's honestly that simple.

Leo is not really a shoto. He heavily relies on his backturn stance to execute hyper aggressive rushdown.

This.

Also, Leo is more of a Guile archetype than a shoto. He has a charge projectile and a flash kick.

I don't know if I have ever agreed more with a comment in a Steam community thread before. This is as close to objectivity as you are going to get.
