Combat speed was too slow for me
I'm a casual Tekken 7 player. I wanted to get into a 2D fighter and had it between this and SFV. I tried this first because it's a beautiful game and generally well-regarded.

I jumped into SP/arcade and the combat was so slow to the point that I thought something was wrong with my PC.

Ended up returning and getting SFV.

This post isn't to crap on the game, but reviews/youtubers REALLY need to talk about the pace of combat so that people can make informed decisions. I've never played a fighting game that felt so sluggish and while I understand that it makes it more accessible it can be very jarring for people that are used to other fighting games.

SFV is a slower paced game than GGST.

I also agree. The pace of this game is slow. This is the only fighting game so far that my wife won't watch because of the pace.

I'm in the same boat. My wife says that I should be more like her boyfriend and play Tekken, but I just heckin' love Strive so frickin' much!

I honestly don't know what you're talking about, compared to Strive SFV is way slower. Is the hard counter slowdown what's bothering you? I can't think of anything else about this game that's possibly slower than SFV. If you were comparing it to previous Guilty Gears I'd understand

I have to agree with Ahriman, it has to be the slowdown on hard counter hit. Everything on Strive is way faster paced. Higher damage, less shimmying....I can't even remember a time-scam as of recent. You can go through rounds between 10-20 seconds.

Meanwhile NA West CPT Grand FInal between Filipinoman and XSK, we saw most matches have Rose and Luke shimmy back and forth to catch their ranges for a good portion of the rounds. A straight timeout situation, and one near timeout at the end. It was still exciting, but for a different reason

I mean, power to ya minicreature if you're finding SFV more your pace which, makes sense given you're coming from Tekken.

Wait Strive was to slow for you? so you bought the SFV? The game with the slow paced neutral game? Okay i guess?!

Was this a troll post? This must have been some trolling.

i mean, compared to tekken this game is lightning fast, the fastest move in strive is literally a third the duration of the jab in tekken 7

did you play a character that is slow by design like potemkin? or maybe its the singleplayer AI that is really barebones. Anyway single player content really aint the way to gauge how fast this game is

I play a few dozen fighting games. Idk about Strive on a casual level but at tournament level its pretty quick. It might be the wallsplat and counter hits that make it feel slow cuz it gives more time to think then landing counter hits or wallcombos in other games. Or it just might not be clicking with you for another reason. I play Armor King in Tekken and generally feel like I can play at a slower pace which i like) then in Strive.
