At least Axl changed somewhat with One Vision combos not being useless anymore. If you wanted player creativity or what not, should just go with Millia or Chipp. They have no hp but they're more creative in what you can do aside from the usual route.
Pretty sure 'player expression' goes out the window once you start killing characters from a single mistake and watching the entire game go down into the toilet afterward.
You literally haven't played enough of the game to formulate this opinion. You probably read this on twitter from a pro player, or watched a youtube video with a pro claiming this. This is false on many levels. I guarentee you haven't even scratched the surface of high level competitive play. And if you have, you probably aren't that good if you play the game with the "same style as everyone else" as that means you're flow charting. Flow charting is what will hold you back from actually being good.
Lets be honest here... You just aren't that good and that frustrates you.
Signed,
someone who is far better than you at this game and disagrees with you.
Strive gutted a ton of moves and mechanics, and it's left most characters in a state where there's only one way to play them, only one or two combo paths, and mixes, tech, etc, tends to be either locked behind meter, or super execution heavy and probably not intended (ergo don't get used to it, it's hard to do and probably going to get nerfed).
Each character has a handful of tools, and those tools tend to be really strong, but if you wish to play a character in a way that's a bit different than what those tools allow... Well, I hope you're playing Sol or maybe Leo, but even Leo got stuff that was pretty key to his kit stripped from him.
To put it how Max did back in the beta, Sol is one of the only characters in the game that gets to "have fun," or in other words, gets to play Guilty Gear.
It's just eye candy with a rotten core, gutted characters , easy and strong offensive with no defensive options.
If you played against one sol , ramenthal, gio , nago ... you have the feeling that you play the same person over and over again there is no diversity.
I still come back because Faust is still a little unique and fun. But the long loading times and not working online is slowly killing it for me.
However, I want to point out that pro player opinions are not to be taken as gospel and for every opinion you find you will most certainly find an equal or greater number of entirely opposite opinions. These opinions have the potential to be (and often are) wrong. For example: everyone said Inkling in Smash Bros would be S tier. Now she's not even top 5.
Wanna also say that anyone who just out and out says your opinion is invalid because "ur not gud at the gaem tho lol" is making their argument look pretty shaky if they have to pad it out instead of holding a discussion like a normal human being.
I'm Floor 10, never been in Celestial. Been playing fighting games since 2005. Eat me, you dorks who seem to think that anyone has ever given a ♥♥♥♥ about online rankings, and shame on you.
It's all bias confirmation and no analytical or critical thinking here.
Now this is the best thing I've read on this forum all week
