how to deal with throws?
Sorry if this has been covered...I couldn't find concise, clear information on this and it's something that's frustrating me about the game. Recently, a Ky cornered me and threw me on wakeup again and again..I had no idea what to do. It beat any jab and I couldn't seem to break it (there are no throw breaks in this game, right?). Another situation that's happened more than once...when Chipp is going ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, he'll often mix up his command throw in his strings, and also just regular throw...he's incredibly fast, and I don't know how to counter this. If I press a button and he's NOT going to throw I get blown up. It's to the point where, usually, if a Chipp gets in my face, the match is over for me. The fear of getting thrown (which I seem to be powerless against) is the paralyzing agent here. How do y'all deal with this? Thanks for dealing with this noob question

Jump, or tech it (although its very hard unless you have a read on them)

Throw is 2f, and only has 3f tech window afterall

If you're being thrown on wakeup despite trying to jab the opponent then you're mistiming your jab or picking a bad one, you're throw invul for 5 frames after waking up so any 5f button or faster will always win against a throw attempt.

As for the Chipp dilemma, that's just a normal Chipp pressure issue, you want to press or jump against his command grab, but if he decides to frametrap you will eat ♥♥♥♥ for attempting it, and that's just how it is.

In general, the most reliable option against throws that will work for all normal and command grab ones is jumping, there are other solutions as well, but jumping is the most universal one.

Backdash, jump, attempt a throw-tech/beat their throw with your throw, use a command throw, shimmy... When you're starting out, focus on jumping obvious throw attempts and poking them for whatever damage you can get, as well as backdashing and sneaking in a long range normal.

Throws are a corner stone of defense in guilty gear, and you'd be surprised how many people on floor 10 and celestial don't know how it work.

Do the missions centered around throws.

I second this, op should do the missions since they obviously haven't one the one on throw techning.

Pretty much this. If you start falling into a pattern then your opponent will most likely get a read on it & they'll counter it. In some cases throwing is involved. If it is, this is where teching comes in handy because they may likely fall into a pattern themselves so this would be a good time to mix things up & catch them off guard.
