Zato , Whats going on?
Maybe someone can answer this, I am having a really hard time against zato in the corner , I block most of his stuff and try to look out for the command grab , i still try to figure out if all of his blockstrings are “true” or are there gabs where I can jab in between or jump out. It's hard to re-create those situations in trainings mode , because I can't play zato.

The thing that kills me the most is when he does his Dust attack and covers it with eddy , is this an unblockable setup?

In Neutral I try to hit eddy and rush him down when he is gone , but this only works against beginner zatos. I know that his defense is weak, but actually everybody has weak defense in this game unless you have a dp.

Zato's corner pressue is truly terrifying because he's basically two independent attackers at the same time. I'm not a Zato player (ie an insane person lol) so I can't give you a definitive answer here. I tend to FD the big hits so I can get a little more pushback and disrupt his combos long enough for a quick poke. That's all I got. ^-^;
Dust can be blocked standing and eddie has no low attacks. So jump guard and stand block is your new best friend.

Lmao , I am always blocking high/low because it looked like eddy hits low and every zato player does this string, so I thought this is a setup or something. Thanks for the answer.
It can be hard to beat the pressure, but one thing to know is that there's a gap between eddies double stab where you can jab him and kill him, as long as you aren't blocking zato stuff.
If you got Sol privilege, you can destroy Eddie's "Pierce" special move after blocking the first hit with 5K, though Zato can make him use something else after the first hit, which would require you to press another button.

Another thing that's not real is 2S cancelled into "Invite Hell" (the ground drill) that Zato's usually use when they're out of Eddie gauge and try to keep you locked down until he's back.

Everybody except for Nagoriyuki and Potemkin can jump in between 2S and Invite Hell and you can lab a big punish for that. He's not obligated to go through with that though, so you can't just auto jump after 2S unless the Zato player is a bot.

If you find a pattern where he likes to use the frog leap in neutral, you can destroy it with 6P.

Sol can punish the sword super with Vortex on reaction to the super flash unless Zato has another bar of tension to escape.

None of his supers have invincibility, so if you can challenge them you get a free counterhit.

Challenging him in the air is hard but necessary. Get a feel for when he's forced to land when flying and have 6P ready for that and for situations where he likes to axe you in the face directly.

Oppose has long startup and recovery. Run up and throw him or if you're Sol you can Vortex and red roman cancel on hit, because red roman cancel destroys Eddie always even on block.

All this doesn't mean Zato is weak or an auto win or anything, it's just a couple of knowledge checks you can use to make the Zato play a bit more honest.

I just block low until i see even the slightest amount of orange on him and i let go of down since his dust is the only grounded overhead afaik. If there is a slight pause where he goes for the command grab i just insta jump out. Also in my experience if he command grabs a lot fd-ing his string will mess up his timing on the grab.

He also has 6K for a grounded overhead, the one where his leg turns into a cleaver and he swipes downwards. You won't see many zato players using it, though, as ironically it's actually more reactable and leads to less reward on hit. It's still something to keep in mind, though, as it has no orange flash on startup.

nah, you get some beefy combos should you RC the overhead, ESPECIALLY in the corner

until he reads your jump out with an RC'd air throw. two things, he can hide lows behind Eddie specials, and his 5K is a standing low, so good luck with that.

the big thing to note is outside of the snakes (236 HS), Eddie has NO invincibility whatsoever and even with the snakes, Eddie can't absorb supers. It goes doubly so if you happen to tag Zato while an Eddie special is out. Zato happens to block an attack with Eddie out, Eddie goes away but his meter is refreshed instantly. Sword super revives Eddie, and the sword tracks your position, so be aware of he can still push a mixup should you happen to block it. You can also interrupt the sword super from actually hitting you, and Eddie has to refill his meter again.

There is a gap between all of Zato cancels into Eddie specials, they all have big startup windows, especially frog and drills. Pierce has a big gap inbetween pokes, and his command grab is slow too. Also Zato's fastest buttons are 6f. He has among the lowest health pools in the game, and combined with his slow buttons, he's free as soon as you knock him down and make him guess. Coward crouch (214K) is also slow but invincible once he's fully disappeared, but the longer he stays down, the more recovery he has.

I have very mixed feelings regarding the ability to cancel summon during "That's a lot" and redo again indefinitely, effectively making it impossible for certain characters to close the gap

If i could change one thing about Zato, this move should spend your Eddie bar once the spikes are out, and that's it

he's the only character that loses half their moveset when they take damage
I have nightmares of the frog
Eddie is just too slow in this game. Just focus on zato movement and you will be able to defend him.
I never know when it's my turn , once he starts his block string with the leaping fish thing. I sit there and block forever , than he starts using his command grab in between. I still try to find a gap where I can jump or poke him , but most of the time I explode for doing it.

And he has also good air attacks that will win a lot of interactions.

The most scary part is that he will break the wall from anywhere on the screen so one random hit, and you are done, and since he doesn't need his tension for more dmg he can always use it to extend his pressure, or cover unsafe spots.
