Has this game been abandoned?

I first featured Boppio on my youtube channel waaaaay back in January of 2021.

I've been waiting for what seems like ages for the release of a few quality patches to address the issues players have been reporting. I was hoping to do another playthrough after those fixes were put in.

I understand that life happens and people move on but I'm hoping Boppio (eventually) gets those last few patches. (fingers crossed)

On Discord (Bäh...) there is an update to a new version of the game from 2022-07-31. Thtere is also an announcement that a next version is already planned....

So, it is probably not abandoned but the dev is more active on Discord as on Steam...

It doesnt show on the game page, latest is from january this year.

The release was done to the Beta branch. According to Steamdb.info, there's been non-public updates up until Aug. 1st 2022. Steamdb.info patch notes [steamdb.info]

Development process news and content (announcements) should be there every 3 months.

Thanks for the heads up. I had the game parked waiting for an update, and apparently I bought the dev a coffee 'cause my game time is probably less than an hour. Bummer, well into the trash you go. If I don't have it loaded, I won't even know if it gets an update.

I am assuming it is at this point. Cannot get a clear answer even in the Discrap channel but it is what it is. Steam needs to hold so called "devs" to some standards at least. Looks like this is yet another EA waste of money and at the end of the day I can afford to walk away BUT should I have too? Same old same anymore. I played a bit so I guess its all good if I consider it like investing in the lottery but still...

I would concur it's been abandoned. Last updated was over a year ago, the dev has stopped doing twitch development and updates. When you don't come into your Steam forums (or have a moderator do it) with a commercial game you're neglecting the community.

2022.1.18 10.21am.: I happened to be playing Boppio yesterday after not touching it for about a year.
Unfortunately, I was also concerned about the actual state of development of this game.
Asking about an abandoned state of this game is a very interesting question.
By sending a friend request to the developer I'm hoping for direct replies.
Hopefully nothing serious happened to the developer.
If I get some replies I'll let you know.

[8:19 AM]Boppy (Dev): There is another update that hasn't been released yet, I'll put it on the beta branch hopefully sometime in the next few months and then once that's stable that will be become the final release. There is also a release on the beta branch right now that contains a bunch of fixes, but I haven't made it stable yet just because I've had this other release in the works for like 6 months now. The final release contains mainly UX improvements and bug fixes, no major features or DLC are planned for afterwards
