for drainable mobs, you always get an extra essence for each drain you use! the drain chance for ending the battle doesn't really mean much tbh, but it increases the lower the health of the enemy.
some general tips: make sure you drain normal mobs semi-regularly so you get enough essences to make some skills. rinne is naturally built for physical damage, and ange is built for magical. stat buffing skills are very useful (at least until you reach the cap of 10). rinne and ange's self-buff last only one turn, so coordinate it with your attacks!
you get charm when you get hit or do a basic attack without using any attacking skills (you can still use other skills). with good enough rng, you can charm any boss's rage attack. managing charm and the boss's rage meter is super important!
all attacks except drain increase the boss's rage by 1 (plus a passive 1 rage per turn). so it's sometimes worth guarding or draining to delay their rage, or letting out your attacks right before or during rage since they can't go over cap in rage, so you can delay the next rage.
lmk if you need more clarification on anything. just wrote this from what i remember off the top of my head. gl!
But the success rate at 0% on drain is SOOOO missleading. I thought it was not worth using it because it would fail. But no ofc, the drain still work a 0% it just don't end the battle...
