Although if they decide to make it so you can't buy them seperately it would make sense to have an upgrade pack, but its still basically just a DLC that gives you some bonus items and a DLC that gives you custom music, which will probably be modded into the game soon anyway
You also get the soundtrack from the deluxe version which is the biggest thing I'm interested in. Though the battle themes is really exciting too because they did like in PQ2 and introduced a way to randomize battle tracks instead of just having the same one playing all the time.
The remixed music they put in trailers so far is really amazing and that motivates me to get the soundtrack.
As for the question from OP the best is to refund but I'm not sure you can refund a gift.
Yes there are some soundtrack and artbook files in the folder which are included in both versions however the deluxe edition has an entirly seperate section which comes up when you boot the game,
It includes far more content with the full soundtrack, artbook and even behind the scenes videos and other stuff in it's own separate application.
I was lucky enough to purchase it when it came out so it's not an issue for me but I can see where OP is coming from and I wish they would just sell it separately so that everyone can access that content since I think it was an awesome addition to the game.
Especially some of the behind the scenes videos and stuff like that.
Back to OP, if you do want to go down that path and buy the deluxe you can do it without refunding it. All you have to do is go to support and request the game be removed from your library (it's easy you don't need to talk to anyone and it's instantly processed).
The good thing is if you change your mind you can request for it to be placed back in your library but while it is not in your library they will allow you to purchase the game as if you don't own it and you will have access to all deluxe content that way.
My recommendation is to do it on a deep sale, i've done it before for a few games and can confirm it always works fine.
