I had the same issues on a ryzen 5900x, turning SMT off completely fixed the crashing/hanging randomly during menus etc.
I tried experimenting with either limiting it to 1 thread per core or both threads on 1 core, and while that did decrease the frequency of the hangs it also made crashes start happening again, albeit at a reduced rate. Another strange behavior I noticed is that sometimes when I got into a loading screen with just a single thread, the game would freeze, but then could be unfrozen by setting it back to all cores, and then setting it back to a single thread to avoid crashing.
I wasn't particularly scientific about this whole process, so your mileage may vary, however the dungeon is kind of short enough that it isn't complete torture to just power through it with the hangs from using just a single thread.
i don't know if that bug happens on recurring playthroughs but i hope not.
